  1. Thanks for the info, Delurker, and congrats on your admit. Wheninhell, did you get an interview? I didn't, so I really don't understand why I/we wouldn't have just been included on the email blast today.
  2. Congrats on the other offer! I'm just waiting for the letter from them to put this process to rest for a few months and then prepare to apply next year. I can't finish my master's with all this uncertainty hanging overhead.
  3. I think that Stanford sent letters to both their admits and their waitlists a few weeks ago. I really wish they'd get on with it though--they're the last school I'm waiting to hear back from and some closure via an official rejection would be nice! I'd be pretty surprised if we didn't get our letters tomorrow, though. I guess we'll know soon....
  4. Hey Jake--sent you a pm in response. It should be in the upper right-hand corner of your screen.
  5. Just spoke with Brown--all acceptances went out yesterday. No word on when rejection and wait list letters will be coming out. Congratulations to everyone who got in!
  6. Congrats!! Do you mind telling us when you got the email? It seems like in past year they've sent out all the decisions at once. I'm wondering if they're going to send out rejections tomorrow morning.
  7. Yep--they did say mid-February and when I called last week they said between mid and late February. Of course, I wouldn't be at all surprised if the results came out this week. It's strange that only one person got an email, especially since it's over embark and not just a personal email from a P.O.I.
  8. Someone just posted an acceptance from Brown--has anyone else heard back yet?
  9. Duke just posted their results. Nothing on my end, but congrats to everyone who got in!
  10. Nope, wasn't me. I know that this is/has been a really hard time for everyone and that waiting is the hardest part of this whole process. But I'm beginning to see that we shouldn't write off any schools until we hear back from them officially. I think that a number of schools don't have a formal interview process but will interview a candidate that they're interested in, but want to know more about (maybe there's something inconsistent about their application or there's a hole in it or they just want to see if the person really is all that). Either way, I know that Brown hasn't interviewed all candidates. Unfortunately, we're just going to have to sit tight for the next two-three weeks and hope that these various committees make their decisions nice and early.
  11. Hey Anthroman--I just applied to schools that I thought were the best fit, faculty-wise. I don't feel too optimistic at this point, but I guess we'll see.
  12. And since I was on a bit of a spree, I found out that Brown's decisions are coming out in mid-February.
  13. I caved and called Duke. I asked if all semi-finalists have been contacted and I was told that "all decisions would be finalized next week." One week, folks!
  14. Congrats, Savagemind. It seems like someone should call Duke and confirm that all semi-finalists are being interviewed (as opposed to just some of the semi-finalists) before people begin to lose all hope. Any takers? I would, but I need to muster up the courage to call Brown.
  15. I can't speak to the veracity of programs admitting students right after the deadline---I guess that some do. Nonetheless, I spoke with the chair of the committee and he told me that Harvard wouldn't be reviewing until later in the month, so any acceptances before then are bogus. Also, I just looked and the result that sparked this discussion has been taken down.
  16. I second that--there's no way that the committee made a decision in four days (Harvard didn't even reopen until January 3rd). I also know that the chair of the committee in going to be in the UK until the 23rd, so the committee won't convene before then.
  17. Hey guys, I didn't see the most recent posts until today. I think that folks who are interested in getting an apartment should start talking. I'm definitely among them. I was thinking it might be cool to establish some sort of co-op and try to bring some other students/other folks into the loop. Amanda
  18. Damn. I meant "their." Yikes. That sounds great. As previously discussed, we should all meet up on April 6th and meet each other. It would be great to move in with some fellow HDSers. A
  19. Harvard ended up offering me full tuition (we did good this year, folks!) so I'm almost positive that I'm going to turn down UChicago's offer. I met with the dean, and tried to haggle a bit, but she said that there's really no money beyond what they've already offered to folks. Which is fine. Harvard it is!!
  20. I'm really excited to see that a ton of folks from our online cohort got in. I'll definitely be there on Tuesday, the 6th. I might be there for the night before too. I'm either going to come in the day before or stay the day after to scope out a good place to live. I'll probably be trying to find a largish (4 or 5 bedroom) house in Somerville if any other HDS folks that are interested. I'm almost 100% that I'm going to Harvard. I was accepted to U Chicago too, but they're financial situation sucks, and it seems like it would be crazy to turn down a full scholarship to Harvard. From the looks of it, it seems like they were super generous this year!
  21. Thanks! I called the office of admissions--not because I'm a crazy person or anything (I swear!). I'm going to be in Chicago over the weekend for a conference though, and I wanted to get my decision before I left for my trip. I was patched through to the dean of admissions, who then told me that I got in. She mentioned that they're planning on sending out letters today, so they should be arriving soon! I don't understand why they don't post results online. I'm hoping to find out more about the program on Monday, when I visit. Do you know a lot about the general AM/MA program?
  22. After obsessing all week (and since December 15...) I just found out that I got into U Chicago. I feel super relieved that I got in somewhere. Hello grad school 2010!
  23. My fingers are crossed. After I saw that post, and then one advising people to call, I called UChi, and they said that letters hadn't yet gone out. At this point, I have no idea whether that means that just acceptance letters have gone out, or whether they just thought that they were going to send out letters last week and then didn't. I guess I hope that we both get letters today!
  24. Has anyone heard anything from Chicago? Apparently, they were going to send out letters on Friday. I'm guessing they'll be trickling in between now and next week. Also, I'm guessing that Harvard will be posting their decisions either on Friday or Monday (unless they decide to put them up late night Thursday like they did last year). Ugh, this week is crawling by...
  25. Ok, so in the Results Search (It is addictive!), someone reported that they found out that they had been accepted to the A.M. program when they were withdrawing their application. They were also told that their letter was going to be sent out on Friday. Someone else then said that you could call the office and ask for your decision (which seemed dubious). Now, I just called, and I was told that you can't, in fact, ask for your decision over the phone, and that A.M. decisions will be mailed out in the next day or two. Does anyone have a clearer/different answer??
