  1. I can relate. Feeling I let time go by and jitters getting me. I am typing at last....lol. Had serious writer's block. Got another paper to starts....lots of reading and notes to take still. I know I can do this....just gotta get past first month.....lol
  2. Even still, you missed the whole point. Just TELL THEM your desire not to have photo taken (mind you not whole on "display like zoo animal" comment). Why do you have to figure out how they "Pulled it off"? Really!
  3. We had our Orientation today. While we didn't take group pictures, there was a consent form in the information packet they gave us giving them authorization to do so with pictures. You will probably get one to for your school and just opt not to give that approval. However, that would be a great time to tell them how you feel. Mind you it would be a shame to miss out being included with your group over something so POSITIVE. Yet, if you feel strongly about it, it is your responsibility to let them know that. How professional is it to skip out on Orientation for something solved just by letting them know up front. If you can't tell them something as basic as this, what will you do when you have a "Major Issue".
  4. Do you have to do your assignment in APA writing style? I've been watching YouTube videos and googling info on how to do this format.
  5. It will be same at my University, once school officially starts. Guessing there may be others that have not gotten their Univ emails.....so they are sending emails to the personal email, which was on application. LOL, I have been checking my personal and univ email now. Just in case someone does something different.
  6. OK, it's that time. LOL, got 7 emails from my first professor of syllabus, writing rubic, group presentation docs, peer evaluation forms, etc. OMG, my poor inkjet needs a laser buddy cause I printed lots....We have to create our own binder with various articles for this class, but they will be used for other classes as well. I need the latest APA writing guide to learn how to use that for the 6-8 page paper due the end of August. I'm excited and got butterflies.....lol. I still gotta get my study area organized to get to work on my reading and writing....already...After all the email snafu, I got those emails on my PERSONAL email.....lol.......Glad everyone already have it or knows when/where to get it. Oh, we are using Moodle? for our webbased class stuff and info......had to call the help desk to get that, which ended up being my student username and password.....All's good.
  7. OK, I freaked out at Best Buy this morning. I've been accepted to my program for months and registered about a week. I NEVER got info telling me what my email address was and thought I would get it at Orientation. Soooooo, I've been waiting to buy a computer to get the college discount. I went to Best Buy cause their MacBook Pro is on sale. I told sales rep I didn't have email yet, but had my acceptance letter. He would not accept that. He told me I should have that, if I'm accepted. I called my school and they confirm it. They told me what it was over the phone. Mind you I got nothing from them telling me what it was before now. We log on at Best Buy and I had 47 emails from like March to present. LOL, thankfully, nothing from my professors with assignments. Even though we did get email saying, there would be pre-class work before our first class. My world is right again and I'm good. LESSON LEARNED: ASK for your email address...........Got $100 off my MacBook Pro...
  8. I agree with Bioo. Not "Everyone" can afford to pay for grad school and loans are their only options. Obviously, if folks can get subsidized, grants, scholarships, stipends or whatever, they will. If you are determined on Grad School, do what you have to do loan wise. Definitely better than a regular loan, plus, it is good debt on your credit report.
  9. I need recommendations for a good planner with a weekly planning section with room to write notes. I am considering using and electronic one two, but I NEED to see my stuff in writing too....lol. I've been looking at standard store brands, Franklin Covey (used years ago...), and some others. Just getting overwhelmed......anybody got something you love for hard day planner for grad school needs. Thanks!
  10. I know how you fill. I retired in 2012 from military and have not been in grad school since 1997. Gulps! I am excited and just trying to get situated with a small Study area at home. LOL. My youngest will be a senior in H.S. this year and I keep telling him we can study together. He just looks at me in horror. I registered last week and have Orientation on July 25th. Getting the start of school butterflies. I'm looking forward to it.
  11. Wow, did you really say "GHETTOS AND SLUMS".... Yeah, no one outside of those environments EVER MUGGS .....especially in NYC.....You are coming across very badly in this post. Yeah, we may all have concerns about any potential job, but you seem to EXPECT everything to be done your way. Is this really the CAREER for you? If so, you might want to re-evaluate your family situation and the TRUE demographic of people you may be working with in this profession.
  12. My school told me I did not have to accept the amount they offered me. That I could change it to whatever amount I felt I needed, but you have to do it BEFORE you register or decline it. So, just call the school to find out....for your school
  13. The school usually waits until after you have started school to give the payout on the loans for reasons such as this. So, they would adjust it or you can just call your Financial aid office to let them know too. Now, my financial aid office told me once I registered and didn't alter my financial aid amounts or even sign accepting, that registering automatically meant I accepted the loans. I would definitely call ASAP.
  14. I may have missed it in the listing. Anyone have recommendations for a good armless chair for small area with lumbar support for back problems. I haven't been in school, since 1997. Creating a study area in guest bedroom with limited space. I have my desk, but need an armless chair that is comfortable and will slide all the way under the desk. I have a small bookshelf and need other storage ideas for a small footprint study area.
  15. We are registering at our Orientation in July, MSW Program. Originally, I tried to register early because of VA Funding processing timeline. I decided against it to attend cause I will be meeting the rest of my cohort then. Just want to make sure I don't register for wrong classes.....lol.
