I like to think they would have told me, but when it said: only submit it if your program requires it and then the english department said: all of it should be done online, I figured I was safe. I highly doubt that was the reason though.

Yeah I heard about this. I still think it is rude. All the other schools at least do email.

Ok, now that I've been rejected, I have a question: did you guys send in an official transcript? I was confused because on one site for Rutgers it said to but on the English site it said not to. Really, I just hated their application process. If I was reapplying next year, I wouldn't apply, but because of the app process, not because of their rank.

I too was rejected. Wow. No email. Nothing. What did I pay that fee for?

UVA was my top choice and I was soooooo close.

Well I hope to get the Fulbright so I can always reapply. I might ask how to become a better applicant should I defer next year.

Question: Why is Rutgers so popular? Is it popular for all disciplines within English or just Victorian Studies? I never really looked at rankings or anything before applying.

Honestly, if I don't get a response (rejection or otherwise) by the end of May, I'm going to email asking for my money back. I know I probably won't get it, but I paid for a timely response (any time before April 15th), and just because they don't want me doesn't mean they can be disrespectful and waste my money.

I feel like they are a better fit but they gave me less funding (in terms of amount and duration) than my other offer. BUT GAH. I loves them both.

I am SO jealous of your Duke admit. I'd kill to go there. But yeah, UConn and Tufts are throwing people at me, though I almost feel as if UConn is being more personalized about it. It is exciting to be courted.

Mikers86, I too did not receive word on a particular visiting day. I'm waiting to hear back from a few schools but UConn is definitely competing for my heart. I'm debating driving out and seeing the campus, but if I fall in love it might be hard!

I have been eating just way too much food. Thank god it is winter. I can wear bulky sweaters and be comfy.

I never really gain weight. I stay relatively the same size. Then this process happened. Now I really need to go to the gym. Ugh.

I'd also add that Rutgers has release acceptances over two days before so it may be a multi-day process.

It only feels like a slap in the face bc it implied I wasn't a critical thinker or analyst. So yeah. . .

To echo: I have always been told not to pay for grad school. If they offered full-funding, then I'd say take it if you want to. There are some schools that don't like to take MA students, but plenty that do. I'd be more concerned with the debt. As someone who has over 60K in undergrad debt, it wouldn't even be an option for me. It all depends if you think you can afford it.

I just got accepted into their unfunded MA (kinda feels like a slap in the face) via email. You'll probably hear soon.

I really like my schools, but with how much my student loans are, I'm realizing that I still might have to work a second job to pay for them. And for I'm not good enough: getting more rejections does not make me happy or feel better. I feel almost as if I got in by mistake.

40 minutes until my interview. I'm dying. This is what death feels like, I'm certain. Nuclearflea, I know them feels. My school has had one before (I think only one), but I'm the first in my family to do this. First generation college, first generation graduate school, and now possibly the first to get a big award like this. It is anxiety inducing.

Thank you! I've been working towards this moment for 3 years. I honestly don't know what I'd do if I didn't get it. It is just such an amazing opportunity to go to my top choice school in the UK. Gah. I hope we all have good news given to us today!
