  1. I cannot handle this anymore! I keep trying to read for my thesis to no avail. I guess I'll have to try editing an essay. I just keep thinking, it must be today. This is too cruel! They wouldn't do it on a weekend, right?
  2. I don't have experience with this directly, but I have friends/family that are in graduate school in both humanities and science fields. Most of the time (from doing research, about 95%), Humanities students get offered 1 year of fellowship (so you just take courses), then 2 years of TA-ing Funding (teaching), then the rest is either fellowship or TA-ing. However, humanities students tend to get paid a lot less than science/engineering students because they have less grant money available. It is pretty much what is allotted to the departments. That is why at some schools humanities grad students get paid $14,000, but science grad students will get double that. Again, this is based off of family/friends and my own research when looking at funding packages across different fields.
  3. I feel so silly. I kept thinking there were 7 grants available for my uni, but there are only 2, which now makes me nervous, because that means only 3 or 4 people will be moved on to the next round.
  4. My academic advisor was super helpful and the lower-level advisor for the fulbright was brilliant, but the head of our scholarship advisement department was not very helpful. I did learn a lot, so despite the outcome and all I went through, it was amazing and I'm so happy I did it!
  5. Mojodreams, I had a similar experience. My school actually ended up almost ruining my chances of applying. I was honest, but not too direct or brutal. And I doubt it'll hurt as they did make decisions a while ago.
  6. In the future, I would recommend they do that when you submit it. That way we aren't biased based on being recommended or not being recommended and we aren't yet panicking.
  7. I know! I had to determine if I wanted to read it or wait and then I realized it was a survey. Now I'm concerned that I didn't get it because I got the survey (makes no sense though!). Anyways, though my friend who got an ETA to Germany found out early, I'm not sure we should panic until the 31st. I know one of my friends found out that late last year.
  8. Hey guys! I just want to wish everyone luck! I am so happy this forum exists for the mutual support/venting as we all wait. It is driving me crazy!
