  1. They probably have to format emails, finalize funding, etc.
  2. You guys are amazing! I still feel out of luck, but I will more positive about it!
  3. Yeah that is what I mean. I'll call the graduate coordinator and if he says I'm out of luck, I'll go from there. I mean, at that point, I have nothing to lose.
  4. Thank you! I think perhaps I'll call Monday and if the grad coordinator says it'll be an issue, I'll email Professor Christensen.
  5. Thanks for all the advice/support guys I really do love the program there, so I'm hoping it isn't too late. Idk how I didn't realize they didn't receive it until now. I'm just glad I caught it.
  6. I wonder then if I can pay extra to have it sent sooner. Last time I called the GRE center they are completely unhelpful. I hate having to pay for the test then 25 dollars per school to send the report.
  7. I'm hoping that because GREs are self-reported on the app that they'll still consider it. Maybe I'll call monday and check. Does anyone know if the GREs are electronically sent or sent via mail?
  8. I would imagine it varies by country/grants amount. In places with 50+ grants, you might have more alternates than the three. Though the three could be in relation to example given.
  9. Hey guys, if you go to the humanities forum and then look under the literature/rhetoric section, there are all english MA/Ph.D people waiting it out
  10. That seems really interesting! Is that building upon something you're already working on or completely new? Either way, it is really cool.
  11. Yes, I chose mine based on the professors there and the specific resources the university had. I think mine had 7 or 9 last year, but I can't recall. Good luck with Aberdeen! I've heard wonderful things about that school. I'm not sure if you already mentioned it, but what are you hoping to study/research there?
  12. Yeah, I think i actually did about 12 of each. It was my first fellowship i was applying for, so I didn't have anything I could really pull from.
  13. Oh ok. So basically, the open grant is whatever school you want versus being set on a particular school? I guess that makes sense. I'm sure most people want the flexibility.
  14. Does anyone know why people apply for the open grants vs. the partnership ones? I feel like most of the UK unis have a partnership grant...
  15. I figure since most apps required us to put our scores in our apps ourselves, there might be so room for error?
  16. I would argue he is. First generation means have your parents or grandparents attended and graduated college? If no, then you are first generation. Now, the first in your family to graduate? No, since you have a sibling that did. I think first generation is a better description, primarily because I find it unfair that just because a sibling is older you are suddenly experiencing change circumstances or something. But that is just me
  17. Thank you! You as well
  18. I'm an east coast person (mainly, trying to move out there seems very terrifying) and my favorite professor works at a different uni. I'm kind of overwhelmed with the process, as an undergrad with only one published work and a few awards, I don't feel I'm as competitive as the MA students. But if I don't get in, I guess I can stay for a year and do more research at my undergrad uni and give it another go next year.
  19. It is Irvine! It isn't my top choice, but as I don't have too much teaching/publishing experience as an undergraduate, I'm pretty much panicking.
  20. They said not to call about it until February 1st or later on the website for missing materials. I was thinking of calling then (so as to respect their website deadline) and ask if they received it/if it would mean my application is going to be automatically rejected. I'm just hoping it'll at least get reviewed.
  21. Question: one of my GRE scores reports did not go out for some reason. I have it as ordered, but as it apparently didn't get there or there was a mix up, I sent another one. Should I bother calling the school and explain, or should I just accept that I'm going to get outright rejected as the deadline was a few weeks ago? Are the GREs that big of deal if already reported on my application?
  22. New decision: we all get fulbrights. Let us write to them!
  23. Honestly, it could go by region.
  24. I did, but not to the extent I should have. She was a nightmare, but the other person was nice and friendly. She just made me feel like because I have to work while in school I wasn't good enough for this scholarship and she also misplaced a lot of things...
  25. CONGRATS!!!!!!!
