  1. I'm sorry to hear that My FPA is equally of no help (in fact, like yours, she was kind of detrimental to the process -- lost letters of recommendation, gave incorrect info, etc.), which is why I did not bother to ask. I hope this time around works out for you!
  2. This. This is true. So very true. Your roommate sounds delightful
  3. Either you did not ask or, like my FPA, they are most likely out of the loop.
  4. I just want to say to everyone good luck! I hope we all get recommended and that the waiting is worth it (if only for more waiting). Judging by the stress, I think it is safe to say everyone worked so hard on this and that you all are really passionate about your projects. I hope the next few days go by quickly and that the results are positive. It has been wonderful venting with you all
  5. I literally just made a twitter so I could see if he had posted more info...I'd generally feel a bit awkward, but this is Fulbright. There is no shame or judgement!
  6. He got an email today from Fulbright or that he got an email stating it'd be on Tuesday that we'd find out? /panic like crazy
  7. I'm now terrified. My dreaming must come to an end at some point I suppose.
  8. I find myself irrationally angry that is wasn't last week or this week (irrational as they did say the 30/31st). However, I'm now terrified since I know it'll be next week...
  9. overworkedta: You are the nicest person ever! I applied to a lot of top-tier schools, hoping at least one will want me, and if not, I got it out of my system for next time The fulbright combines everything I want: an amazing school with many options for my research (faculty, research resources, etc.), and in a setting I'd feel comfortable in with great volunteer opportunities, so I'm really hoping I get it! But I'm hoping everyone here gets it too
  10. I'm really trying to enjoy this ignorance. The last day or maybe week of dreaming. But regardless, I still check this often. And by often, I mean every 30 seconds...
  11. After 11 applications to graduate school, I'm just hoping I don't get rejected from the Fulbright and my top choice on the same day. That'd just be mean. Or maybe I'll find out I got both on the same day. I'd enjoy that I guess I can keep dreaming since they are taking a bit of time.
  12. I'm applying to the English department and saw the lit interviews and am now panicking. I am also applying for a Fulbright and am rather pessimistic that I'll find out I didn't get either tomorrow or something. Gah! Both of these processes are driving me crazy!
  13. @FingersCrossed_118: I love your picture. It makes me so happy.
  14. I cannot believe Smith did that! I'm sure there were a lot of students who didn't get recommended and we upset about finding out that way. Even if I were on the recommended list, I'd still be concerned I didn't make it and that it was a mistake or something.
  15. It is totally possible that perhaps we do not have the wonderful privilege of having an FPA who is in the loop. It seems unlikely based on how many people use this thread, but it is still possible. Also, considering how weird this year seems to be compared to others, I imagine they could just release the emails before telling anyone or that it could be next week.
  16. If you become an alternate is it something you could put on a resume or no?
  17. I know! I applied to two fellowships abroad without luck (granted both were even more of a long shot than Fulbright) and I applied to 11 graduate programs that I'm waiting to hear back about. I thought graduating alone would be terrifying but not even being able to know I have a concrete plan/fall back is making it much worse!
  18. I'm actually strangely at ease right now. I'm sure it'll pass tomorrow, but Uni just re-started so I'm pretty busy. I'm debating how long I'll wait before opening the email when it finally comes. Might want a few more minutes thinking about the what-ifs
  19. I wish I had known that or been told by my Fulbright Advisor. I don't see it anywhere on the website. Weird.
  20. Were you able to apply to more than one Fulbright? I thought it was only one per year?
  21. Based on numerous meetings with professors, the math section is never looked at unless the school states so and most of the time the gre is used as a tie breaker. Don't worry about it.
  22. Though most people will have applied already, I figured I'd start a topic/thread for those of us waiting. We can vent, talk about results, possible interviews, deciding between schools, etc.
