  1. I'll have a BS in Speech. They said that if you're applying for Summer 2014 you do not have to have pre-reqs done but if you apply for Summer 2015 then you do.
  2. An accelerated program will do just that! During your five year program, it will be likely that you'll take graduate course work in years 4 and 5 so you can think of it as 3 years undergrad + 2 years grad. Also take as many AP courses as you can and try to take summer courses when you start college. However, as a current senior in college I've found that it's definitely not four years of broad education - I'd say it's more of your freshman and sophomore years that are broad and as a junior and senior you will be taking major/advanced classes primarily.
  3. Look into programs that do a 5 year combined bachelor and masters program. I know Duquesne is one and I believe LIU Brooklyn has it as well.

  5. forever young
  6. Monmouth University is due 2/1. However, they require 2 letters of recommendation. I imagine most programs will require LORs.
  7. I find it strange that they are ranked so high, yet according to EdFind (updated 12/13/13) they accept 184 out of 389 applicants. That's 47%! The only explanation I can think of is that it's so expensive - perhaps many people turn down the offer so they have to accept more people. I would have applied if it wasn't so far away for me.
  8. I think it can depending on the experience you have. I wrote about it in my statement of purpose and got a letter of recommendation from the professor I did research for. While I cannot say with certainty, I am pretty sure that strengthened my application. For NYU, one of their essay questions was specifically about research, so it was very beneficial to be able to talk about previous research in that essay.
  9. I wish I put more effort into my academics from day one. Those freshman year grades can come back to haunt you!
  10. I visited all my programs before I decided to apply. I also visited a couple programs and decided they weren't for me. During my visits, some (probably) didn't increase my chances of acceptance since I didn't interact with any faculty. However, for one school I met one-on-one with a student, another I was one-on-one with a professor. Whether it will help my admissions chances I don't know, but it definitely helped me learn more about the program and if I could see myself attending the program. Another big plus about visiting is that if you are applying to schools outside of your city/state, you can see what life is like in that new location. Definitely visit if you get the chance. It would suck to spend $50+ on an application and go through the awful process waiting to hear back from a school if it turns out you don't like the program and/or location anyway!
  11. The hint they gave at the open house is that the question has nothing to do with the field.
  12. Already did it - the recording will start immediately.
