That was me I made that call around 10am. Called again just before 5 and got the same response as daisynic. Hope they're able to get all the decisions out tomorrow!

Application Anxiety Thread
lisa19 replied to autismadvocate's topic in Speech-Language Pathology Forum
I did! Won't be hearing back til earliest the 15th, but could be as late as the 30th -
Nope! But at the open house they said they'd be notifying 3/15-3/30

I'm considering bringing my parents to an admitted students event as well. The main reason why I would want them there is because they are financially supporting me and while where I go is my decision, I want them to be involved in my decision process and informed about the programs. Also, if I am moving 5 hours away from them, I want them to at least have seen where I'll be for the next two years!
-
I would take what you hear from that site with a grain of salt. You never know who could really be posting. It is also possible that one or two students really don't like the program, but the majority still do. I say trust your instincts and talk to current students either in person or over email.

No word from Emerson yet but I recently checked my credential status and saw a new slot added called "Proof of College Graduation." While I can't remember with 100% accuracy, I don't believe that was one of my credentials before. Does anyone see or not see this on theirs? Maybe it's a sign!

How demanding and difficult is slp grad school?
lisa19 replied to Speechstudent's topic in Speech-Language Pathology Forum
I also imagine our schedules will be very different when grad school comes around. I'll probably stop working all together, and I imagine my social life won't be as active either. While it will be harder, I expect to dedicate as much time as possible to my program. -
Yes!! This is one reason why I love our field (and related ones) so much! My friend is in business and her coworkers can be selfish, rude, and only care about money. Not saying this is of all business people, but you definitely have those kinds of personalities. I quickly realized that none of my coworkers (or classmates) are like that. You need to be a good person to be in one of these fields and it's really awesome to be a part of a community of caring, selfless people!

Saying two years can be quite vague, as many programs require one or two summer semesters. I care more about how many semesters I have to pay tuition for rather than length of time. I believe that all programs I applied to will give me a good education and job placement, so I'm going to weigh out costs, location, and my overall gut feeling when I re-visit the programs.

Haha same here! I don't even remember half the things she said (including her name... oops) because I was just too excited! I'm hoping we'll get a follow up email soon. I did ask about funding though, and she said funding has already been awarded and it sounds like others received their scholarship amounts over the phone so if you weren't told anything you probably didn't get anything but she did say financial aid will be discussed at the open house. And to answer the first poster, when I visited over the summer the faculty were extremely friendly! I met with Dr. Nicholas and she actually knocked on every faculty members door to introduce me. I was quite nervous and put on the spot to meet so many of them, but I thought it was really cool how they were able to take the time to meet and briefly chat with a prospective student. I'm sure they have even more availability for their own students. Also, the program takes 6 semesters.

Balanced it out for you haha

Crazy Grad School Dreams/Nightmares
lisa19 replied to AudCSL's topic in Speech-Language Pathology Forum
I posted this on another forum but had a pretty bad one too. I had a dream that I was accepted into one of my schools, was thrilled, but then "woke up" within my dream to realize I didn't really get accepted. Then still in my dream, I got a rejection from the same school but instead of just a simple rejection I actually got my application handed back to me in test format and scored something like a 17 out of 42 lol. There was a big X over one of my essays. -
Yeshiva I found through a google search and Monmouth I found through word of mouth!
-
Nope they said they'll notify 3/15-3/31
-
They've updated the website a lot since I made this post! Before they were starting in Fall 2014, now not til Fall 2015.
-
Monmouth should be notifying last two weeks of March!
-
It was the graduate program director who told me first half of March. It's possible they're aiming for March 7th but sometimes delays happen so she didn't wanna give me an exact date? Either way I'm going to stick to what I heard or else I'll check my phone obsessively on the 7th!
-
I was suuper nervous but I think it went fine! It was also really cool to chat with students and tour the campus. They said they're interviewing 250 applicants (but some students may be accepted without an interview) and that we should hear back in the first half of March.
-
It looks like "Registered/Waitlisted" refers to if you've registered or are on the waitlist for any upcoming events/interviews. Note how in the same font there is also "Invitations" and "Group Invitations" That also seems like an odd place to put a decision.

Rejection - even before they accept others?
lisa19 replied to shuca's topic in Speech-Language Pathology Forum
I wouldn't overthink the notification process. It is possible that they haven't finished the email for the accepted students, that all emails should have gone out but there was a glitch in the system, etc. Do all you can to stay positive! Having two interviews lined up means that there is something significantly right with your application. Schools always vary in competitiveness and many times they have to turn away qualified candidates. You still have a few days before your interviews, use that time to build up your confidence the best way you know how and you'll be fine -
Anyone else regretting not applying to more schools?
lisa19 replied to waitingNC's topic in Waiting it Out
Nope - but I have an acceptance already so that helps with the anxiety. However, if I applied to more schools it wouldn't have been anywhere I would have actually wanted to attend. I actually wish I applied to less. If I could do the application process all over again, I only would have applied to 3 of my 5. One of the schools isn't a good fit but I applied to as a back up, and one of the schools is so competitive that I wish I didn't apply and saved my money instead! -
