Some of them seem to not even bother sending out waitlist notifications and just leave students hanging. Looking at last year's UCSD results, they don't send out waitlist notifications, but then again, not every applicant comes to gradcafe. Good luck. I hope you hear some good news soon!

Thanks. Everything is just happening at once (like it always does) and all that combined with the waiting is really getting to me. Any news would be good, but I'd love to know even if I'm on a short list or something (there or at any of the schools to which I applied)
 
  That's awesome of your advisor. I'm going to apply to work in the industry I want to study in my target country. I really need to get on that (but there's so much more to do this week between classes and extracurriculars and work D; )

Why are we getting so paranoid (myself included) about adcoms/faculty looking at grad cafe? Oh, right, because this entire process has pushed us to the brink of insanity. I actually caught myself wondering if some of the people PMing me were faculty asking me how I felt about their program. It's getting out of hand. We're going to turn on each other soon!

Some universities are really taking their time! CUNY's application deadline was December 1st, and it was also the most expensive one ($125). I haven't heard anything yet. 

Ugh, I was really hoping to hear back from UCSD by the end of the week. Hopefully I'll hear something next week. Too bad Monday is a holiday. 
 
This waiting is horrible. At first I was so excited to have an interview. Now I'm starting to feel down because I haven't heard anything. But then I've been told by other people on here that they'll probably send out official decisions next week, and not all POI's call people before the official decisions. 
 
I just want them to put me out of my misery!
 

I got a call from an unfamiliar number today, outside my area code. I was so excited, but it was just my credit card company telling me that I forgot to pay my bill. Oops.

HAHAHAH so, chilling. Having a beer on a Sunday night when a professor from one of the schools I've been admitted to calls to congratulate me..... I could NOT have been less prepared for that conversation......

haha yeah I hear ya. Sprint got me yesterday. I suppose it's a good habit, regardless. Even if the area code is wrong - you never know if the POI has a cell # from a different state.

Yep, my school is open Monday too!
So I'm going to convince myself that just maybe the schools that are open will be really good about contacting applicants on Monday, because some of their colleagues at other universities and organization will have the day off, so they'll have few emails and the likes. (Right? It almost makes sense…)

Yeah, my school isn't closed for the holiday, and it's George Washington's birthday, and he's sort of a mascot for us (he donated the start up money for our institution). We do have a ball in honor of his birthday every year. 

Honestly, I like to think that good ol' George would have wanted us to be in class on his bday. I get the feeling he was the kind of guy who valued hard work.

I agree. My first two responses were rejections, and I am really itching to hear something--positive or negative--to break the radio silence of the day. I thought for sure some major shit was about to go down today, as far as notifications; but alas not a single response. I saw several notices from Cornell on the admissions results board, but nothing for me yet.

In other words, this:
 

Hahaha! We had a drinking game at the expense of my MA supervisor -- if he sent one of us an email containing a full grammatical sentence, that person had to buy all the other supervisees a drink that week. We didn't get very drunk that year. 

I'm fine with that, maybe then my name will finally end up in a peer reviewed journal. 

I'm not sure I would do that, you might end up on someone's SOP... "For my PhD, I would like to examine what is locally known as the Screencheck's yurt..." 

She really is though! I don't think I could get through this without her helpful advice.

You guys.  I've been freaking out for days since my call with my POI left things a little ambiguous....but they just called me and I got into UCSD with funding.  I literally could not be happier.  It's my top choice.  I don't know what to do with myself right now.
