  1. Ultimately I don't think PhD programs care what school you come from. They care about your research above all else! So go to New York!!!! I am biased, but I would jump at the opportunity to live in New York City! I just graduated from UCLA and can say that LA is meh at best. Lots of things to do, but it's all very sprawled out with lots of traffic. On the upside LMU is a pretty campus and in a nice area.
  2. Send in an e-mail! It's just before the deadline, that seems appropriate.
  3. I for one don't really understand the guilt! It's part of the process. I doubt it breaks their hearts for people to turn them down. The roles are reversed! Enjoy it.
  4. I feel your woes Andromache! It's a shame that money can separate us from our dreams.
  5. It's your life. It may be unprofessional to back out, but you have to do you first!
  6. Storypetals, I am planning on going to the MA program at Rochester with half tuition, so I'm completely content. Just a fully funded offer form Georgetown would be quite a kick. I'm so looking forward to Rochester. I'm falling in love with the idea and preparing for the snow. Also, sidebar, does anyone know if it's a problem to take community college classes before enrolling in the graduate program at Rochester. I imagine not, but I was originally a transfer student to UCLA and they have all kinds of stipulations on how many classes you can take at community college. I just need something to occupy my mind for the next 6 months since I graduated!
  7. I worked it out! It's just boring financial aid loans. Poo!
  8. Did anyone get a Georgetown financial aid review message??? I cannot access it because I'm having problems with my password and have called then and waiting to hear back, but I'm wondering what it is!!! I figure funding they call, so I'm not too optimistic but the curiosity is killing me.
  9. Lol Kamisha, I felt you may have had some interesting relationships with your friends. And all the Georgetown people, did you get the funding update email???
  10. "In my friend" ??????????????? That sounds disturbing.
  11. Hey Merintil, I am in the same boat. According to a georgetown thread that was on here, they tend not to respond about funding questions until it's basically all decided anyhow. But e-mail them! See what happens!
  12. I know, completely feel you on the funding. But right now I don't have other options. So it's looking pretty good. I got into Georgetown, but I haven't heard anything on funding and I think they contacted their first picks lay week. So that's completely unreachable financially. Where Rochester is a bit more feasible. As terrible as loans are, I just have my heart completely set on English. I can't see myself passing up the opportunity!
  13. And Despejado, you are my gradcafe soul mate. I thought you should know. Haha. Thanks for being awesome.
  14. Yay dyslexic! I'm glad our luck wishes came to fruition and we aren't forced to kill one another out of jealousy. And yay for you too Styro. Are you guys thinking about accepting the offer?? Will we be future classmates??
