  1. I up voted your post, Kamisha. I have cancelled that negative energy!
  2. I am inclined to see things from Jocko's perspective! It's a phone call! I doubt departments see this as that big of a deal. And if they do, then imagine how terrible a department it would be to work in when they don't want to give you a time for a phone call, but you want them to give you the time to advise you on a thesis!!
  3. Ipse!! Congrats on the UCLA acceptance!! That's fantastic.
  4. Shortstack!! Since you're already in New York, go ahead and stop by NYU and order them to let me into their program by this evening. I'll make it worth your while! I'll give you a cookie.
  5. If only we could have a bar for all this season's English applicants to sit and stew together! And drown our sorrows in drinks, and celebrate our triumphs with drinks. Either way though, drinks.
  6. We've had terrible weather here too!! It was only in the 60's!! I know, freezing. It's almost unbearable. I'm dying of inferiority complex. I need some good news to make me feel better. But even if all rejections, I just wish they'd all tell me now so I can work on moving on. *sigh* I know I'm preaching to the choir, but I'm so tired of waiting.
  7. It's nearing the end of the week! And still no word from Vandy or NYU. Of course assuming rejection from Vandy. Who else is waiting on NYU??? If I get rejected there too I'll probably give up all hope! Lol.
  8. I will defend Kamisha's rule until death!
  9. When you come into power, Kamisha, you mind admitting me to a few PhD programs?
  10. Pinkberry is much more of a problem than earthquakes!!!! So true Graditude. And drive bys at Pinkberry are the worst. All those dead yogurt enthusiasts. It's really a traumatizing experience that every true Californian must go through. And shortstack, in all honesty UCLA is a great school, but LA is one of the ugliest places I've ever lived. I am counting down my last 5 weeks and cannot wait to leave! So maybe it is a blessing.
  11. Haha Graditude, it really interests me that people think there's really an earthquake problem in California. I've lived here all my life and only been in one sizable (6.5) earthquake. And it was actually really fun! Lol
  12. And honestly Kamisha, I have a feeling you're going to get in to a couple places!
  13. To those of you rejected to UCLA: it's terrible here, the students are miserable, the professors often resort to physical violence, before examinations you must sacrifice small animals, and all universities have agreed to never hire UCLA PhD's. . . See, they did you a favor.
  14. Well, it seems to be a common denominator that we all feel terrible about ourselves and that we're all depressed! Lol. Academia is destroying us!
  15. I feel highly under qualified as well, as a result of this forum (and 3 rejections). I'm most likely going to get in nowhere! But, I have a backup plan all set up and ready to go. And it would begin in June. So despite my depression from being rejected everywhere, at least I have something to live for. Lol. I'm sure most of y'all will get in somewhere. And yes, I said y'all, but I'm being rejected everywhere, remember this.
  16. Noooo Champagne! Do not leave us in this hell all alone!
  17. Haha Horb, I love the Disney reference. I see what you did there. But honestly, I would take my rejections so much harder without knowing there's brilliant people like you guys going through the same stress.
  18. I have two implied rejections and one official! They're pretty depressing. And I'm sure at this point, unless you're officially rejected, you still have a chance, but most likely it's not going to happen if it doesn't fit in with the normal times they alert everyone. Sooo, I assume rejected and if anything else happens I'll shit my pants in excitement.
  19. I hear a lot of people bomb the subject test! So you are not in the minority. I took some of the subject practice tests and it seemed ridiculous! Undergraduate does not nearly cover all the literature present on that test.
  20. 98 verbal! Dwammm! Lol. I could have done better had I studied. But considering I didn't study at all, I was stoked on my scores.
  21. Kamisha, we're talking about the percentiles, not the raw scores! And I'm praying that english departments could care less about our quantitative capabilities!
  22. I thought I would do well on math, considering I went through multi variable calculus, but I did abysmal. Lol. I got 25%. Woot woot!
  23. 97 though! Represent! Lol. I don't think that's low enough to screw you.
  24. You got those scores too??? Whoa! Weird! Lol
  25. Horb we have identical GRE scores! 87 and 93! We're twins!
