  1. Anytime!! It could be any day between now and May 1st, but since they normally say they'll let you know two weeks ahead of the next deadline, I am guessing it will be closer to May 1st than to now. Suffering in the wait with you, fingers crossed!
  2. I'm super nervous, because my multiphase project really needs the Wenner Gren!!
  3. Not Yet! Did you get the email letting us know that final decisions would be released really close to the May 1 deadline? Or did you, personally, get any news? Crossed fingers, and wishing us both luck!
  4. Hey, I am not sure, but I do think that you are able to choose the doctor that you go to see; Is there a doctor you can trust that you can ask about the questionnaire beforehand? I found a copy of an old one here: http://foreign.fulbrightonline.org/documents/resources/Pre-Departure Medical.pdf I do think there is more stigma and discrimination about mental health diagnoses in the US than in Quebec, but I am not sure to what degree nor how applied to Fulbright. If I glean any insights from past Fulbright friends that I can share along, I will do. I hope you apply!
  5. Hey~ Good luck to you! And may you have awesome distractions during the wait ?. I don't actually know when first round decisions come...
  6. Awesome Nat-Geo enhancement award webinar today! If anybody missed it but is interested, they will be posting a recording of it to the Nat Geo application instructions page that we were emailed about.
  7. hope is fundamentally humanizing. I say go for it ?
  8. congrats! where in Costa Rica would you be doing research?
  9. Is anyone active in Wenner Gren 2019, waiting on decisions?
  10. Recommended for Peru, research~! wishing everyone well. Does anyone know if the Fulbright-National Geographic still exists?
  11. Hi! Where would you look around Vanderbilt if you wanted to rent a house in the "country"?
  12. Let me know if there are others out there! I would like to do the same--- moving down soon with my fiance, starting a PhD in Anthropology this fall. House-hunting trip on the 23rd of this month. Who else is going to Vandy??

    Nashville, TN

Nashville revival post? I have some questions about the areas and towns surrounding, and an UNUSUAL request: Can anyone suggest a great place to rent a house where we might live rurally and still be able to commute to Vandy within an hour? I will define rural, as I have had more than my share of responses from people who think a cul-de-sac with a tree in the yard counts. LOL. We are from New Hampshire. If you can count the number of trees easily, that's a bad sign-- We don't want to hear traffic, would like a longer driveway set back from the road, with tree cover so that we don't see neighbors, and hope for a small-town feel with a short commute to the city. We have pets that would rather not be run over, and our dogs are farm dogs that chill in the yard while we're gone. So we NEED a yard. Any one have thoughts?
  14. Congratulations AKCarlton!!! Boston is a great city, as I'm sure you know. I wish you the best!! NOWAYNOHOW- An MA in Bioethics sounds really interesting! Are you focused on medical anthropology? Would you be able to do a research-based/ fieldwork-based Thesis on a topic related to your anthropological interests? If so it might help you out in getting into anthro PhD programs. There is no way I would have gotten into programs without having done this MA, and fieldwork, first.
