  1. A very good introduction to Philosophy of Math: Thinking about Mathematics: The Philosophy of Mathematics by Stewart Shapiro Also, beef up your knowledge on set theory, I would recommend that you start with Naive Set Theory by Paul R. Halmos Once you have this down, look at the Continuum Hypothesis, then you can read Penelope Maddy's Naturalism in Philosophy.
  2. I have learned that undergrad publications, conferences (even organizing them), and teaching experience probably do not matter at all.
  3. Do you have other offers?
  4. It seems that a lot of people heard back from all of their applications, and most of them are signing out from the forums. This thread is for people who are still waiting to hear back on one or more programs. I am still waiting on a non-US MA program. Also, congratulations to everyone who received an acceptance today and yesterday!
  5. Congrats, buddy! I'm really happy for you.
  6. On another note, that makes so much sense about my situation. I was probably viewed as overqualified at every school I applied to. I am pretty sure they viewed my application and said that this person should already apply to a tenure-track position. I am not sh*t after all .
  7. Congratulations! What are your areas of interest if you don't mind me asking?
  8. I am still waiting on one MA school, though not mentioned in my signature.
  9. Philosophy of Mind: Classical and Contemporary Readings by David J. Chalmers is a really good anthology. Edit: I have just realized that you probably meant a one author book instead of an anthology. My bad!
  10. I just had a dream where we (this forum members) were all in a classroom and some professor was giving a lecture. There was one student who was sitting in the front making some hostile comments while the professor was talking. I knew right away who he was . I have been on this forum for way too long! Hint: V
  11. Thank you !
  12. It is not grad school, but I got accepted to a three-week summer program on Logic and Formal Epistemology at Carnegie Mellon University. I'm happy for that!
  13. I don't use pencils except for scantrons (parscore). I really hate using pencils. I'd rather have a paper full of scribbles than use a f***ing pencil. They frustrate me more than they should.
  14. I assumed you would say Zizek for some reason.
  15. An Ohio State University rejection via website.

    MA Thread

Thank you! I could not find the deadline on their site. I am going to email them. If it is 4/1, then I think I can manage to apply and have everything ready by then. Thanks again!

    MA Thread

I was trying to escape California, but I'll consider it for next season. Thanks for the info!
  18. I attended a 'National 101-200'. No PhD program for our department.
  19. We used it for an upper division undergrad course (500 level in some systems), however, masters students can take that class and get credit but with some extra work. Also, we read a whole bunch of articles other than that book. The book was more of a complimentary (but required) material.
  20. Did anyone say sausage with eggs? Got it? 'eggs' rhymes with 'legs'.
  21. Kuwait. It is not that bad but I really don't want to be there for a long time.
  22. They have already sent their acceptances and waitlists. Don't get your hopes up. Good luck!
  23. I'll move as soon as I finish this semester...back home. Just shoot me already!
  24. Automated.
  25. I have just got a rejection from BU (solicited). I've sent an email to Hopp and received an email with pdf attachment. You need your BU ID to access it.
