Do they send notifications on weekends? My inbox has been so silent I am going crazy. I hate it that they wait untill March/ April to send out rejections.
-
Hug! Other programs might turn into top choices, you never know!

That's super cool! We can go get Chinese food together! Yes I have heard back from one school but I have to wait for funding Infos. I am also interested in women studies!

Hi! Congrats on USC! That's awesome! I think I have an implied rejection from USC and all the other schools that have not contacted me. How do you know that you have been rejected from CUNY? Did you contact them? I am telling myself to wait till march before I pick up my phone and make calls... Hard to wait I am going insane. I wish they can just tell everybody the status at once. Even if there is a wait list, it can't be that long.

That's awesome! I live in LA! We both applied to Oregon and Bloomington then! What is your major? Heard back yet?

You are very helpful! I really appreciate it!

Lol, no, that's not how we cook in China. However, we have coca cola chicken and beer duck in China, both taste fabulous! Where did u apply? I offer to make it for u guys if we end up in the same city/ school. I am currently not stress eating anymore. The anxiety has taken away my appetite.

Hey, focus on the positive thoughts! I totally get you I am getting crazy as well. Aber nicht vergessen, Ende gut alles gut. Nur abwarten und Tee trinken! Ich weiß dass es hart ist! Hang in there! You have awesome academic records and solid scores. Keep your head high! Princeton is not notifying yet. Neither did any other top tiers in the east coast. The game is still on, nicht den Kopf hängen!

Thank u! That's very helpful! I will check how much a studio in Goleta is. Also, is it hard to find a part time job there? Just in case if my funding is not survivable.

You re welcome! I have a ton of implied rejections from the west coast already. Now it's east coast time. -
Columbia English

If you read their comments u will find out that ppl who post first are the ones who have received university wide fellowships. Afterwards the department has to find money for the other students and they have to see how much money they can get and then decide how many students to accept based on that. As for me, my GRE verbal score makes sure that fellowships won't happen:) Good luck! -
Love this thread. So I am not the only crazy one here...I eat lots of stuff. Where to begin? Chocolate, I cook Chinese food, and I promise I will go to the gym but end up lurking on gradcafe.

CUNY torture (comp. lit)

Thank you for replying! I am kind of in panic mode. I think I might write the admin an email to make sure about my T score being received. Other than that, I will just wait. Yep, trying to read Melville and not checking my emails every 5 min. -
Ohhhh I see! Thank you so much for sharing that info! Goleta keeps popping up in this thread, I have to visit! My campus visit is in 3 weeks, I might stay a extra day or two to check everything out. Thank you! I appreciate it!

So interviews have been posted, and now there is a rejection on the board. And I have heard NOTHING!!! This is torture. What makes it worse is that I just logged into my application and it showed that my official Toefl score has not been received yet. That's impossible, I have sent it in November ...Any CUNY applicants out there to help? I am going insane. Should I call? Also just checked my Irvine app, still showed "under review." Noooo, u've sent out acceptances already!

Yesterday someone from Santa Barbara told me that it is super expensive...a room in a house for $1750...no way I can survive there! Any current graduate students to share renting prices? Thanks!!!

Whenever I see interviews/acceptances posted of the schools I applied, I feel a small panic attack followed by the thought: another implied rejection.

2016 Acceptance Thread

Congrats on everyone being accepted! I am currently having a huge headache from over-drinking at the Super Bowl party. I feel that the best thing to do is to sleep now. It has been a very quiet weekend. Getting ready for the mid February storm. I think it's time for all the UCs to send me rejections. Brace myself! Hope more ppl post in this thread tomorrow. -
Though it's weekend, I have seen people posting on the result board and seeing the schools I applied to pops up is driving me insane. It's Chinese New Year this weekend. Hopefully I will get an response soon during this holiday season. This is the most "I don't care" Chinese New Year I ever had. I am not even excited for the celebration.

I am in an unranked program. The professors are very helpful and strict, and the environment is nurturing. Class sizes are super small, which means they have a lot of time for you during office hours. I know that our department has some kind of funding and TAships. Most of the people in my cohort teach for tuition and work another job for living costs. I am not saying that it is not hard work, but it is worth it, because afterwards, you will be much more competitive than you are now. My point is, besides of ranking, you should look at the class sizes, and think about what it can really offer you besides a name.
