In the hopes of preventing for others the tiny heartattack I had this afternoon:
I received a manila envelope from the History of Art dept. @ Berkeley. Preparing myself for the worst I opened it to find...
a newsletter for "friends of the department!" Argh.
Anyway, stay calm if you're waiting to hear from Cal and you get an envelope...
Yes, I was wondering the same thing? I did try a sample entry in "submit results" and when you type in Cultural Studies, the pull-down menu lists Communication Arts- Media and Cultural Studies. And I don't think there's any separate field at Davis that would fall in to this category, so it must be CS? Congrats to the person accepted!
Art History.
- "So what kind of stuff do you paint?" (I don't.)
- "Oh, then you'll appreciate this! *gestures toward the Thomas Kincaid original above their fireplace* (I don't.)
- "Why don't artists make things I can understand anymore?! It's all soups cans and pissing on crucifixes these days! *rant continues indefinitely* (Ummmmm...)
Yes, exactly! I asked my husband to block GradCafe on my laptop and our desktop so I would stop obsessing. He has the password to unlock the site and will let me look once a week...or so he thinks. (Right now I'm on my brother's computer while he watches a baketball game...)
It's so typical that I would break the rules I've created or myself. Damn you GradCafe!
Inspired by the "positives thread" I thought we could have a little competition here. First, this is not to list ALL the things that (you think) are weaknesses. List THE most comically terrible element of your application and see if anyone can "top" it...
Art History 2010 is so quiet!
Who's done with all their apps?
I was done, but decided yesterday to add one more. It's a strategy I think: I can control my applications, but I can't control my obsessive thoughts during the excruciating wait.
Of course come mid-January, I won't have the option of adding any more...
