  1. @jadeisokay totally on board with the 'lots of interests' thing (so that interview sort of triggered my fear of being pigeonholed)--my background is in hybrid translations, postcoloniality, and poetry, but i'm also very interested in post-humanism, monstrosity, and comparative postmodernisms on that note, has anyone been envisioning their future-and-most-ultimate Dissertation???
  2. seriously not tryin to cause heart attacks, but I *have* received emails on weekends a few times over the various seasons...
  3. My people!!!! Yay! figure I can count myself out for yale and indiana, given the other notifications. i’m crossing my fingers on some east coast schools, and had what i’d consider a pretty trainwreckish interview at penn state a few weeks ago...so...bad.. but i’ve got a couple acceptances, which feels like serious balm for the forward march. What are y’all’s interests?!? Good LUck!
  4. did y'all see the random UT AUstin comp lit acceptance?!?!?!?!
  5. @j.alicea sadly true. i have a friend in SC now and is paying exactly that for a studio. Dismal.
  6. @j.alicea just noticing you got into UCSC too! Comp Lit or English? (we have common research interests!) ..also my fam is from PEI, so pretty cool that you applied there, too! pretty uncommon.
  7. there's an English waitlist posted o.o
  8. @mandelbulb wait whaaaat!?!? Just English, or comp lit too???
  9. side note: the northern midwest is in a polar vortex right now, and everything's shut down...this *could * cause a latency with notifications
  10. wish i'd applied to duke just to be in this ben n jerry's commiseration club.
  11. youtube is starting to understand the feels:
  12. fun fact: if i hadn't already hammered the nail in the Penn State Interview coffin (Very Likely), i definitely did when i emailed them asking how the Rutgers deliberations were going.......FMLLLLLLLLL
  13. @kendalldinniene omg had a sympathetic jolt just reading that. @FiguresIII congrats to your three interviews--wow!! Looks like this cycle will bear fruit for some of us! edit: did anyone else apply to Rutgers' Comp Lit? DGS said they hope to make notifications this week!
  14. also @flungoutofspace, i believe, who recommended that sufjan side-D thing---so great for writing!!!
  15. february is gonna be an eruption on here, for sure. it’s seriously not coming sooo enough. re: poetry—ever read CA Conrad? essential reading
  16. @kendalldinniene oooo ever read her Ode to the Douche? It breathes new life onto anyone you then deem worthy of the term
  17. Yaaa pretty much dying for a sign of life at all times... anyone read some good poem lately?
  18. the one thing this thread was missing!
  19. I'm riding a motorcycle across the country the day school gets out. feel free to join! planning for it is therapeutic (on that note if anything particular Definitely Needs to be checked out, let me know!)
  20. right! it's indelibly not-for-nothin that her elimination got so summarily brushed off....do her fantasies dictate our realm??? @mwils15 mainly, i'm a lil disappointed in latrice's lack of comedy graces--for me it's humor genius over everything.
  21. @mwils15 is it just me or was all that rule suspension last ep. just for ru to get latrice back on? i’m so hoping monet makes it to the end.
  22. ^realness. at the end, we should do a live booze-in commiseration sesh, reflecting on our battle wounds. edit: (maybe a vigil outside Uchicago admissions building???)
  23. @WildeingOut it sounds like the standard platform, which most schools have some version of. The change was probably prompted by a forward of apps to the adcomm. When the time comes, you'll have a proper letter in one, and a simple 'accepted' or 'rejected' or whatever showing up in the other.
  24. omg cornell acceptance up on da demon board D;
