Wanted to revive this thread and ask if there's anyone in Calgary who can chat about the renting situation. I have a friend who lives there now, but she lives with her family. The impression she gave me was that recovering from the floods has made finding somewhere decent/affordable to rent is somewhat difficult? If I do go to U of C I'll probably apply for on-campus housing anyway (hopefully in Glacier?) but aside from the few pictures the school has up online I don't know much about the dorms either.
  2. Yeah, I wasn't going to contact them now, more so once it gets close to the acceptance deadline. There is one program that I think I should hear back from next week or the week after (which is my top choice program, too) but as for the other two I applied for, I have no idea
  3. So, I got my first acceptance offer yesterday. I am super excited because I was reaching the point of "Oh no, I probably won't get in anywhere!" so it is a big relief. It is a pretty good school, and I wasn't expecting to hear back so soon. They're also offering a nice partial funding package as well, which is a plus. The issue is that I have until March 24th to accept or decline their offer. I am concerned that I won't hear back from my other programs before this deadline. Is it considered okay to contact the other schools and ask roughly when we could expect to hear a decision? Since I do have an offer with a time limit on the table I don't want to sit around waiting and then feel super rushed. I also don't want to risk getting my application rushed through assessments at the other schools and end up getting rejected...
  4. I am just finishing my BA at Memorial, and honestly, the cheap tuition is totally worth it. Everyone is always super helpful, and there seem to be a lot of scholarship/funding opportunities. Yes I am perhaps a bit biased... but you'll leave with a positive experience and no overwhelming debt
  5. So happy that I finally get to post in this thread! I checked my phone before I got in my car to drive home from work. I made a quick stop for food and coffee before going home to attempt and finish a response paper I have due. I had all of my stuff set out to be productive, but figured I would check my e-mail and stuff to get any possible distractions out of the way. It was about 9pm at this point so I really was not expecting to see my official acceptance to University of Calgary! Needless to say I was not very productive after that!
  6. Just got an acceptance from Calgary! I didn't think I'd hear back for another week or so!
  7. Just had a minor heart attack when I saw I had an e-mail from Western Turns out it was just letting me know that one of my references submitted their letter. Not that that really helped my panic, because I had been under the assumption that he had sent that in about 2 weeks ago. Could be worse though!
  8. All you can really do is wait for them to get back to you, I guess. Sometimes the results page can be your worst enemy
  9. I applied to four schools total (so hopefully someone wants me...), three are MA and MSVU is Master of Public Relations University of Calgary and Concordia both had deadlines on Jan. 15th, Western's was Feb. 1st and MSVU was Feb. 15th. From what I've heard I can be expecting to hear back from Calgary around Mid-March, but I am not expecting word from anyone else until April
  10. Like Ancient_DNA said, most schools have to do the process in waves. So maybe it is a good thing that you haven't heard yet? If you are genuinely worried then I think you should e-mail/call the program and inquire about it. Other than that all you can do is sit tight!
  11. Applied University of Calgary (MA Communication and Culture) Concordia (MA Media Studies) Western (MA Media Studies) MSVU (Public Relations) Concordia and Western are my top choices, the deadlines were only Jan. 15 and Feb. 1st so I am not expecting to hear back for awhile yet...
