Okay it’s reassuring emails are still going out! My husband and I are sitting here trying to make sense of how these are being sent out lol. Institution alphabetically maybe? Year of birth? Letter of first name?

Not sure about institution. I am taking mine to Estonia, so it is might just be a random draw.

FYI all. I got my results. They did NOT announce them to me via any kind of email. Rather, last week I figured it would be wise to check into my extranet from last year, and it took a few days to reset my password. Then I logged on right now thinking I would find nothing and guess what? They were uploaded on February 24!!! Also I did not make it. WTAF.

I second that SSHRC's system is abysmal and the process is extremely opaque. Postdocs in the US at least give me excellent feedback.

    Good luck all of you!

I somehow managed to log into Extranet (forgot I actually had an account - had the SSHRC COVID extension) - nothing has been uploaded for me.

Has anyone received the promised email with instructions on how to create an Extranet account? I'm hoping for results any minute, but also don't even have access to the platform yet.

I haven't received anything on this yet either. Glad to know I am not the only one.

Oh, it's wonderful that you have options! If you moved into Data Science, would that involve more education or is there a job in Germany you might have lined up?

It would involve more education, but given how big Data Science is as a field right now, doing a 2 year MA (combined with my work experience which should help me) isn't such a bad trade off if I don't get a SSHRC at this point. I won't be giving up academia, just making a shift if that happens. Here's hoping we hear something in the next week or two!

I do want to know what ideas folks have regarding work if they're not successful?

This is the big question I am sure is on all of our minds right now. I actually work in educational technology for my university while I am finishing my PhD, and I am pretty lucky in that there will be a permanent position there if I want it. That's a big if. While the field is interesting, my PhD has nothing to do with it and I would much rather get the post-doc and continue on. Also thinking of perhaps making a move into another discipline (Data Science) at a German university if this doesn't pan out. But it's all up in the air until SSHRC results come in.

Emailed the external awards officer at Concordia (who I think is the same one that confirmed another user's SSHRC), and was only told to await decision by mail. Probably does not bode well, but the inconsistency is frustrating.

Sorry to hear that, not sure why they are being inconsistent like that. If it helps, I am an MA student at Concordia going into a Ph.D. at McGill, so not sure if that had any impact on it.

Naively hoped to receive the letter today... Thankfully (?), the postal worker did his run three hours prior to his regular schedule, so I'm now somewhat at peace for the weekend

Good to know, I am waiting for the mail to be delivered here (in Montreal) to see if anything shows up. Highly doubt it but that tiny sliver of a possibility is still there! Also, if there are any other fellow Quebeckers/Québécois(e) on here, we should know about FRQSC next week as well...

My academia.edu analytics show someone found my profile in the city of one school I applied to....two days later, I had an interview request. :)

Otherwise, it's been pretty silent for me. I was hoping for more visible activity, but maybe adcoms don't search for more information?

Academia.edu only registers analytics (keywords, city/location) if they perform a search and then click your page. It's possible people can search for you and NOT click your academia.edu profile, but find information elsewhere (then no information would show up under your analytics).

TL;DR: It's almost meaningless to use academia.edu to track possible interest in your application. :)

I normally wouldn't have noticed or gave it a second thought except for the person was in a city of a school I applied to and they looked at one of my papers that I have on my profile that is related to my PhD proposal. Of course, I could be just making something out of nothing, but having heard absolutely nothing about my applications thus far it was a fleeting moment of joy/anxiety/confusion.

  9. Out of curiosity, has anyone seen increased activity on their Academia.edu profiles as of late? I saw on my analytics that someone was looking at my profile last week and I have a sneaking suspicion they were from one of my schools.... Which could be good? Or inducing even more anxiety...?

  10. In my experience, McGill tends to be the last school to send out acceptances. When I applied for my MA (in Art History) I heard back at the end of February (like the 27th or 28th). It probably depends on the department as well. I am currently waiting to hear if I got into the PhD in Communication Studies, and from the results forum it looks like early March...
