A treat I found on last year's forum while trying to figure out around what time Korea announced (~5PM, BTW): lunita, on 22 Mar 2013 - 11:34 AM, said: I think we could all use some LOLs.
-
I just jumped because my phone dinged. I guess that regardless of how much I new that trying to guess that date of Korean notifications is pointless, I really hoped it was today.
-
The issue with a degree in teaching is that it is a professional degree. The skills sets you gain aren't always applicable to other fields. As such, if you change your mind later on, it'll effectively be a worthless degree.
-
I think all of us Korea people were a bit too sure that today would be it. Seriously, what is the point of putting ourselves through all this torture of trying to figure it out? That said, I REALLY WANT TO KNOW! My parents and friends keep asking me about it.
-
For those of you that already heard back, did any of the emails not include the decision in the subject line?
-
This just seems so rude. Why would someone do it? I definitely agree that before any changes are made other than updating our own row, it should be discussed here. If you guys want to appoint some people to be the only ones able to access it, those people need to be really dependable.
-
Are you serious?! When did you notice? I'll go check if my row is deleted. If it is, I'll just re-input it. Edit: How come the world regions were deleted? It made it so much easier to navigate tot have it color-coordinated that way. WTF happened?!

I need to stop reloading this page and just get to work on my BA thesis. Ugh! I wish I could get Fulbright off my mind.
-
For those of you that already received final notifications, what time did you receive them? What it around the same time as the finalist emails (around 5:50)?
-
Miri1776, my FPA says that Fulbright is actively trying to send out all notifications by or on April 15th, so you should probably expect to here no later than that.
-
I feel the same way about Korea. However, it wouldn't be too bad to see a P (an N would suck though).
-
Japaniia, I think I read several pages back that not all the countries include the letter in their subject line. I don't know about Spain, but good luck. GE
-
Padthai234, Which country are you applying for? GE

I wouldn't say it is the best comparison, but I think it is useful. I think for most college students in the United States college admissions serves as an easy-to-understand reference point--especially since highly-selective colleges love to brag about it. To me, it seems easier to conceptualize it that way because a fraction by itself just seems pretty useless to me. That said, as with anything else it is not a perfect correlation I'm sure. Not to mention, Fulbright applicants are a self-selecting group. But, then again, so are applicants to the best schools in the country.
-
I just hate the fact that the subject line l included the (A). I am so frightened my decision will include the letter in the subject line. I don't want to be accosted with my status; I want to have a least a few seconds to mentally prepare.
-
Olioliwoo, Personally, I would hate the limbo of alternate status (I like security), but I have to say congratulations. You made it to alternate status in France! That is amazing! I mean, this year the acceptance rate is only about 13.5%--a lot lower than many great colleges and universities in the US. Not to mention, I imagine art history is particularly competitive since I am sure there are plenty of people seeking to study it in France. Even if you don't get it, this proves you are a very competitive applicant and could win in a different cycle. Good luck! Best, GE

Fulbright Early Termination vs International Affairs Fellowship
GnosisExchange replied to Madagonk's topic in The Bank
Is there anyone else at Fulbright you could contact and negotiate with? -
If you guys want to get a sense of how the application process is going for those of us on the '14-'15 cycle, here is a link to our spread sheet: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AsJrSSHnssqFdHNPell4VVZwWDgtWUpQcTVVeWM0bWc&usp=sharing. Just please don't mess with the info there! We spent a lot of time on it to make it as useful as possible.

If you are planning to apply for a research grant you need to get your letters of affiliation going. That process takes months!
-
Japan doesn't offer ETA. I think it is because they are very committed to their own program, JET. Also, they speak English in Canada; they wouldn't need ETA.
-
Haha! Are you implying the 24th will be the day?
-
CONGRATULATIONS!!!
-
Miri1776, what type of grant and country are you applying for? Maybe this email is specific to what you want to do... Also, what was the subject line for the email?
-
Being an Alternate must suck. I'm anxiously waiting on for Korea ETA and would probably prefer to be rejected than to be an alternate. I don't think I could handle the uncertainty!. I accepted a position with TFA with the understanding that I would defer if I got Fulbright, but if I were to be an alternate I would probably just let it go and reapply next year. I hate waiting. Good luck to you. I hope you get it without having to wait too long. Though I'd probably back out if I were an alternate, you never know. You might get it. I know last year an alternate heard back quickly that they got it because the preferred candidate had already accepted a hefty non-deferral scholarship for law school.
