Olioliwoo, I am so happy to see you aren't giving up. Your project is so important! Please do everything you can to make it happen.

That does sound pretty bad. I feel so terrible for all of the Ukraine applicants. I can't even begin to imagine how worried you guys are. Good luck! If the program is canceled, may try to think about the way this leaves you free to pursue other opportunities (much easier said than done, I know). Best of luck!

Hi ajcho. Sorry if this annoys you, but if you don't mind me asking, why Korea? I'm curious since you are obviously interested in postsecondary education. I ask since Korea only has ETAs in elementary and secondary schools while other countries have ETAs in higher ed. Sorry, this just really caught my attention. One of the reasons I ask if that maybe that could be something to consider when deciding whether or not to apply again....?

I hate to say this, but clearly this year has been an exception to all previously established patterns. It's probably best to stop trying to guess the date. For me it only caused more anxiety as a saw how late the notifications were compared to previous years.

Hi. Does anyone on here have any information about the TFA program at the University of Miami--the M.S.Ed in Education and Social Change through the school of education. I've read everything on their website and it seems like a cool program, but I am not sure if it is beneficial in terms of my longer term plans. I want to go into education policy, so I'd probably be interested in the Social Change Emphasize. Thanks!

There is no such thing as over thinking in this case--this is your future we're talking about it! In the end, your gut will probably tell you the best choice, but it is smart to think through the pros and cons. Good luck.

Hi guys, I write because I plan on applying to law school some time after I complete my Fulbright ETA commitment (I am so excited for this opportunity). I'm currently a senior at a fairly prestigious small liberal arts college and will be graduating cum laude with ~3.65uGPA. I know my credentials aren't great, but I'm hoping to get around a 176 on the LSAT. Since I won't be applying for at least a year and a half, I want to dedicate as much time as possible to studying for the LSAT during my Fulbright (I hope this helps as a soft!) time. Does anyone have any advice on how to proceed with studying? Any current or former Fulbright ETA's out there with tips? Thanks, GE

Fall 2014 Law School Applicants?
GnosisExchange replied to harvardlonghorn's topic in Law School Forum
Yep, TLS is it, but I wish this forum was more active. For some reason I prefer GradCafe. -
Paul and Daisy Soros Fellowship for New Americans - 2014/15
GnosisExchange replied to Yellow Magnet's topic in The Bank
That is the sense I get. It is just that the topic seems to broad...Oh well! It a (very) long shot anyway, but I figured I'd try eventually. Thanks! -
I go to Amherst College (not UMASS, but a member of the Five College Consortium). I can't speak as to housing since I live on campus, but feel free to message me if you gave questions about the town.

Hey guys, I'm not a 2014 applicant, but I plan to apply for the next round. do any of you know where I could find some sample essays? -
Mozartgirl53, having you on this forum makes me so happy. Thank you.

Just hang in there HopefullyWandering, you make get very lucky. Due to extenuating circumstances not everyone can accept the offer so you never know. Hopefully we'll get to meet at Goesan on July 6th. F.Y.I. Preliminary acceptances of award are due on April 30th. I doubt any alternates will hear soon after that, but you never know. Also, never forget that the summer melt is a thing.

There will definitely be more opportunities. This just wasn't the right fit. Oceanblue, I am sorry to see this, but if this makes you feel better than good. I know there isn't much of chance you'll read this, but in case you do know that we all hope the best for you. it probably sucks right now to get the NS to Vietnam, but I'm sure your destined to do other amazing things. The NS does not reflect you in any way. It reflects the competitiveness of the program--which highlights how talented you are to have been recommended in the first place--and the fact that sometimes things just aren't the right fit at the right time. Yesterday one of the Fulbright coordinators for Poland spoke at my school and gave advice to applicants. One of the things she most emphasized is that really frequently some of the best project aren't chosen just because they are not the issues that the host country is most concerned with at the time. Being NS, therefore, reflects more on the needs of the country than on their judgement of you as an applicant. So much of any application process is dependent just on luck. I wish you the best!

I'm so excited (and a little terrified). Just signed and sent out my Fulbright contract and yesterday my TFA deferral was granted! (Mine was delayed because it was sent to wrong house at first and had to be resent to Korea and then back to Miami) OMG--I still can't believe this is really happening. When I had the contract in my hand is when it all became real. For the first few days I was convinced I would get an email saying my acceptance had been a system glitch, but that doesn't seem to be happening. Thank you to everyone that has been so supportive in this community. I truly thankful I have had you guys to go through with this.

CONGRATULATIONS! It is so nice to know that someone got it; everyone yesterday seemed so devastated to get A or NS. Congratulations, really. What's your project?
-
Mozartgirl53, please keep a blog during your grant so that we can stay up-to-date on your amazing work.

OMG! OMG! OMG! Congratulations! You deserve it so much! Your research will make the world a better place! Also, here is my GIF to you:

Good luck with Argentina guys! Just wait a little longer; you've made it so far already. There is a guy in my school that also applied to Argentina and he is waiting on pins and needles. I really hope he and both of you get it.
-
I really do want Mozartgirl53 and Olioliwoo to end up getting it. Both your projects sounds so cool.

I'm having the same issues--it's not the computer. It is very annoying!

Congratulations! it's great to see Alternates get it!
