Congrats! I'm assuming you posted about both Purdue and UW-Madison on the results page? I tried to let Paul know of my decision asap in part so that others would not be in the position I was last year, where I was waiting until 11:50 only to not get funding. So it is good to hear that the process wrapped up a bit sooner this year!

I don't post often, but am nevertheless open to networking. For example, I am friends with both mattdest and dgswain, the latter of whom I met here, the former I know primarily from UM-SL. I also have a couple other friends that I met here from last year. My interests are in 19th and 20th century philosophy and the philosophy of religion. This year, I was accepted of the waitlist at Purdue and will be accepting, barring an acceptance at SLU, whom I've yet to hear back from. FiatRatio, feel free to get in touch since we seem to have similar areas of interest and I am at least currently in the St. Louis philosophical community.

I don't believe there's any aggregated and/or more 'objective' source for information about climate. There was something in the works last year at the department I'm at, but the project was halted, though I'm not privy as to what the concerns/issues were. I take it that the best option, probably for both questions about climate and 'reputation' is to get in touch with graduate students at the various departments. I know a graduate student at Chicago who seems trustworthy that I could put you in touch with if you end up going this route.

I posted the waitlist for Purdue (poorly, since I didn't notice that it erased my undergrad gpa and gre scores when reloading a new captcha, and it didn't like the '+' I put between admission and funding). Here's what I know: usually, they notify people who are getting a fellowship offer early (so I expect that to be the case for the first post). Also, in the past, they've notified people by email, at least initially, where rejections were sometimes also by mail and didn't usually come until after offers and waitlist notifications are out. Finally, someone on here posted that they were told they could expect to hear this week or early next week. I suspect that they changed their admissions process for this year. Last year, they offered acceptances without guaranteed funding (waitlist for funding). I think this year they are only offering acceptances with funding, and waitlisting (for both admission and funding) the rest. In addition, though this is only on the basis on the two other posts, they may be sending out everything at once and by mail (this is consistent with the timeline offered). Unfortunately, however, there just isn't that much information at this point. I shared your confusion about when I might hear back, so hopefully this is helpful. Edit: looks like they are notifying those on the wait list through email. Still, they may not be finished until the end of this week, or even early next week.

Thanks for the info about UCR. I applied to 6 schools and none have sent out offers yet.

I think the bit about your interests changing in grad school is supposed to encourage you to pick the overall stronger program, but just the program that best fits your currently changing interests.

I've yet to hear anything from Purdue. All this talk of declined offers is definitely adding some intensity to waiting. Differance: what time did you decline?
