  1. YES! This is me - I'm waiting for my rejection...just glad I'm past the sitting on pins and needles post-interview stage. My interview was awkward, so I'm not surprised. If I think about it too much, I'm angry at myself for how I contributed to it...but nothing I can do now. Very disappointed - I would've been in if I wouldn't have blotched the interview.
  2. You're right - I don't like much anything about margaritas...we have a traumatic past - the smell/sight of a salted rim makes me queezey.
  3. 1) Colder weather (ideal = 35 degree F) 2) Fried tofu with a little salt - nothing else 3) Kidney beans straight out of the can 4) Uncooked noodles (the veggie flavored ones) 5) McDonald's Hot Mustard sauce (by the way - they quit making it!) 6) I have to agree with what someone else posted - McDonald's Fish Sandwiches
  4. 1) Black Licorice 2) Macaroni Casserole 3) Twitter 4) Fox News 5) Dr. Phil 6) Psychology Today (some of it is legit - a good portion is garbage) 7) Tequila 8) Salted rims on margaritas
  5. Do you love applying to, and keeping track of, 10-20 applications? Can't get enough of the sitting on pins and needles post-submission wait feeling and post-interview rejections!?! Then you'll love the rejected across-the-board club! Clinical applicants especially welcome! 14/14 clinical rejections! Go me! Clinical programs want everything, plus a kitchen sink!
  6. Don't apply to clinical psychology PhD programs - they want everything, plus a kitchen sink. Hello across-the-board rejection!
  7. I applied to 18 programs (14 clinical psychology; 4 developmental psychology): Clinical: 8 official + 6 anticipated rejections developmental: 1 official + 1 anticipated rejection; 1 anticipated post-interview rejection; I rejected 1 offer Note to self: never, under any circumstance, apply to clinical psychology programs again - they want everything, plus a kitchen sink!
  8. This was EXACTLY my situation (i.e., POI studied psychopathy and current grad students' descriptions of him sounded a lot like his research interest...), EXCEPT I heeded their warning!
  9. See my responses above.
  10. Unusual stories...funny, weird, bad - whatever. I'll start: Recruited to visitation weekend at my top choice university. Current students don't have good things to say about my POI (e.g. "POI is mean/distant/creepy/difficult," "POIs last two students left the university," "current student is miserable," "POI can't keep students in their lab," "think hard about your decision to accept the offer"). POI weirds me out when I meet them in-person - commented on my (attractive) physical appearance, talked about former partners, cost of their house, criminal records of other applicants. I knew I'd reject the offer, even if I didn't get in elsewhere. After I told my advisor & other LOR profs about the weekend, they encouraged me not to take the offer, despite not getting in elsewhere.
  11. Rejecting your top choice's offer because 1) at recruitment all current grad students cautioned you about your POI (e.g. "Think hard about your decision," "POI's last two grad students left the program," "POI's current student is miserable," "POI is difficult/mean/distant/creepy.") 2) POI weirded me out when I met them in-person (e.g. remarked about my (attractive) phydical appearance, told me about former romantic partners...all without my prompting)...my advisors even advised with me not to accept the offer, even if I didn't get in anywhere else, when I told them what happened. I didn't need the convincing - I knew I wouldn't go there after I spoke with students and met POI. AND (Most likely) Being rejected by your safety (yes, I know there's no such thing - it's my shorthand terminology) post-interview because you blotch your interview because it was the same weekend as weirdo-creepy POI meeting and you're realizing, if safety doesn't take you, it's an across the board rejection...combine this with an extremely socially awkward (not weird or creepy) POI that you just don't know what do with... Been rejected from every where else (or anticipating rejections because my programs require interviews - they all went out in Jan/Dec)
