  1. Hello, my name is Kiera and I have also accepted an offer of admission to a graduate program at U of T! I will be studying Speech-Language Pathology in the fall, and am very excited to attend such a great school! That being said, I was wondering if anyone could give me housing advice regarding the residences? I am currently living in Tokyo, originally from Saskatchewan, and the most of Toronto that I have seen occurred during a 5-hour layover. Thus, my knowledge base is limited so I was wondering if anyone could inform me about Graduate house and Chestnut residence? Through my limited research these two seem like the best options for graduate residence, however I am used to living on my own and am worried about a resident environment. Thoughts?
  2. Just wondering, what made you pick Alberta? I have the same option and I am almost positive that I will be attending U of T, so it would be interesting to hear the opposite point of view.
  3. Yay!!! I got in to U of T my number one choice!! This is my second time applying there and one of my best friends lives in Toronto! I am so excited that I jumped up and hit my head in my tiny Tokyo apartment. If you don't get in this year try again, because the initial rejection makes acceptance so much sweeter!
  4. Just got emailed that I am on Dals waiting list. Does anyone know the length of it?
  5. Thank you for posting this, it makes me feel better to know someone so highly qualified did not get in as well. I have a 3.89 sGPA, 100 hours with two SLPs in two populations, research experience in cognitive neuroscience, have worked for Autism services, have hundreds of other related experience, had a speech impediment as a child, and am teaching English in Japan... I just don't know what else I could have done. But c'est la vie I will be an SLP anyways Rejection just always sucks
  6. I think it also depends on what area you want to practice. I think each school has it's strengths, but some have difficulties with certain placements. If you are wanting adult neuro then U of T or Mcgill might be the best options, and if you are wanting to work with children Alberta or Western might be better options. U of T and Mcgill both have trouble finding voice and fluency placements, where as Alberta and Western have difficulty with Adult Neuro (I think because of the size of the city), but both have in-house clinics that have large pediatric sections. However, it is also important to note that if you are not sufficiently bilingual Mcgill may have trouble placing you in your desired clinical placement. Based on the clinical placement restrictions I think that each school is slightly specialized to the available placements surrounding that school. This is not to say that you can't go into adult neuro from Alberta but that each school may just have a slight focus. Source: I only have information on these schools because I have a good friend in each program (who went to undergrad with me).
  7. I think their waiting list is also very small.. So most likely all wait-listers heard today. I hate to be negative but I'm assuming this is the kiss of death to my application haha. Also could you message me your stats?
  8. Congratulations! Just wondering, how did Dal let you know? Has anyone else gotten an acceptance from Dal? Also, has your status on UApply Mcgill changed yet?
  9. Ah Congratulations guys! If its okay could I also receive your stats? Not that I think I got in, but I'm concerned that I currently don't have a Canadian phone. I am currently living in Tokyo and the phone number I gave them is no longer in service... I'm sure that if they really wanted to talk to me they would email but it still makes me anxious.
  10. I think the biggest thing was increasing my hours with a SLP and volunteering with multiple populations! Also, I got a job with Autism services and became a research assistant. For me it was increasing my experiences in the field that was most important I think!
  11. Hey guys! It is starting to get exciting! I also got into U of A! Two days ago they sent me the email :) After being rejected from three schools last year I was soooo excited to get that acceptance letter that I jumped up from my bed and screamed waking up my roomate. For anyone who doesn't get in this year do not give up!
  12. My ORPAS hasn't updated yet? Did you get an email?
  13. I just got an email from Dal! Finally It said: [i would like to confirm that all of your required application documents have been received. Your application is considered complete.] Thank goodness
  14. I am! I emailed and they told me that they were really backed up and could not give me any confirmation.
