SLP Post-Bacc Programs

Have you all thought about Utah State University online? It's a great program, and I think it's pretty easy to get in. -

Rejected at SJSU, waitlisted at CSU East Bay. Weird because I was in the top ten on the waitlist at CSUEB last year, and I have all my prereqs done and more work experience this year. Oh well whatever! Sent my declines to Idaho State and University of South Carolina yesterday, so I hope that makes two people on the waitlist for those schools happy. Have to talk it over with my husband one more time, but I think I'm accepting at U of Northern Colorado (distance). Advantages include studying in PJs and more time at home with the family -

Anyone else Distance Education?

Yep, I'm doing University of Northern Colorado's distance masters! Looking forward to being able to stay on part-time at my job, or spend time with a baby if we decide to have one in the next few years -

Rejected from SJSU and waitlisted at CSU East Bay, exact same thing as last year! I know I was in the top ten on the waitlist in 2013, so I thought I'd be offered admission this year. Oh well, luckily I applied to some online programs this year so I have options. Better for my car to not drive to Hayward every day anyway -

Oh, that's another good thing to keep in mind if you decide to work full-time: near me at least, there were no exam sites that would proctor outside of normal business hours. So it would have been literally impossible to work full-time and take classes b/c I would have had to take time off for each exam. -

That's really helpful, thanks for posting! Makes me feel much better about my rejection from last year, I knew the stats were something like that but geez. Same with SFSU, apparently a few years ago they didn't take anyone from outside their undergrad pool, but still accepted applications, which I think is kind of evil but what can we do? -

I did the program in a year while teaching; the first semester I was teaching full time and then I changed my schedule to part time for the other semesters. Teaching full time and taking four classes at USU was barely do-able, I did get straight A's but it was tough! I also had a big boost because I was taking two classes from a professor that was laid off shortly after that semester for being too easy. So I would either reduce your teaching hours or your course load. The thing that was challenging to me about the USU 2nd Bachelors was the sheer amount of information you're expected to memorize. My undergrad degree was focused on critical thinking, scholarly research, etc. USU is much more about memorizing details, and I found that you can't just skate by on reading and writing skills. Good luck and please post any more questions you have, I'd love to help! -

No, there's one under CSUEB and one with the name spelled out, that's two! Oh well I guess there's no point in acting crazy but I just want to know so I can settle down and focus on making a decision with all options known. -

The Results section says that people have heard back from CSUEB via email and SJSU via snail mail (acceptances), I haven't gotten either. ㅠㅠ (The horizontal lines are my eyes, and the vertical lines are the tracks of my tears) -

According to the Results section two people got emails today from CSUEB and one person got a letter of acceptance in the mail from SJSU. My heart just jumped when I saw something in my inbox...It was from Wells Fargo saying my online statement is ready to view :/ I'm freaking out right now, guys. Has anyone else NOT heard back from these schools? BTW my husband already got the mail today and I live in San Jose, so the fact that a letter was not there from SJSU does not make me feel good. -

Not at all! I did okay at a good school in undergrad (3.2 from a top-25 college) and then I had only A's and A-'s from USU's 2nd Bachelor program, which was a 3.85. Most universities I talked to only look at the last 60 hours, so that would be about a 3.85 for me (I did better in my final year of college.) My GREs were 700 Verbal, 630 Quantitative, 4.5 Writing. I've been teaching ESL/EFL early learners for 4 years, 2 abroad, which is pretty much what I wrote about in my essays. Anyway I was rejected/waitlisted at the programs that I applied to last year, so don't give up I know it's a lousy feeling, but sometimes you just have to wait for your time. -
