  1. I was in a similar situation a few years ago. Please feel free to send me a message if you need other information. Good luck!

  3. Thanks! But just got a rejection there.
  4. Anyone plans to decline an offer from WUSTL? I've been stuck on the wait list for 50 days. Many thanks!

  6. Yeah, I think Arizona is doing the same thing.
  7. I do agree with you on your points. The philosophy department there is a perfect place to study epistemology. I just have some worry about its placement. As far as I can see, it has never placed someone into a PhD-granting program or Leiterific MA program (maybe I'm wrong). Given its ranking, this seems to be something very strange. I don't mean to belittle the program. On the contrary, I quite like it.
  8. I tried to solicit from UConn, UCSD, Cornell, and FSU. But haven't heard anything.
  9. Also waiting for these three. I think they will come out in a few days.
  10. Thanks! What track did you apply to?
  11. Did they mention your position on the waitlist or anything relevant? Just curious.
  12. Same here! It is also my top choice. Which track did you apply to?
  13. Thanks! I do agree with you that its philosophy department is certainly not weak. My worry is that its placement is outshone by its sister program LPS.
  14. Thanks! I share your impression. The department is pretty strong in epistemology and history of analytic philosophy but its size seems relatively small.
  15. Admitted to UC Irvine (Philosophy, not LPS) a few days ago. I have a question about the program. The philosophy at UC Irvine is ranked relatively high in the PGR. I scanned a little through the Breakdown of Programs by Specialties section (http://www.philosophicalgourmet.com/breakdown.asp) in the PGR, it seems that most of its ranked fields (incl. Phil Sci, Phil Physics, Phil Bio, Phil Math, Logic, History of Analytic Philosophy, etc.) belong to the Department of Logic and Philosophy of Science. Given that its Philosophy Department and LPS Department are combined together in the overall ranking, I wonder how strong its Philosophy Department is? I’m sorry if this is not the right place to post the question. Best of luck to everyone!

  17. Congratulations! Are all these PhD programs in Philosophy?
  18. Hi, everyone. I'm applying for transfer this season. Is there anyone transferred before? I wonder if I need to say something about why I choose to transfer in my personal statement? Thanks!
  19. Update: Finally, my program "approved" my request for credit transfer. But I can transfer no more than one course from my previous institution. Sounds funny. Don't know what they are thinking exactly.
  20. Thanks so much for the reply which is absolutely helpful. I will definitely consider transferring to Canada. Actually, I'm not American. I just came to the States for study. So the placement record is not that important to me.
  21. Thx. You are absolutely right. Those factors really should be taken into consideration. But I think it does not hurt if I try to reapply. Anyway, I can just stay in my current program if things do not turn out better.
