Just chiming in with the schools I’ve heard back from:
    UT Knoxville - nothing
University of the Arts - accepted (with no interview)
    University of Iowa - accepted
    UW Madison - accepted

I only applied to four programs this year (this is my second time around) and I’m so pleased with the results.

    Awkward interviews:

so all of my interviews were a little awkward and I stressed a lot about it. But after speaking with a professor at one of the schools I was accepted at, they told me the reason interviewers are not as inquisitive and don’t ask follow up questions is because they are tying to be fair and unbiased. They want to ask every applicant the same questions and not show favoritism during the interview.

My advice is to practice your answers and to find ways to elaborate where you can. Don’t stress and just be clear about your work and goals.

I had my first interview with UT Knoxville yesterday and felt pretty good about it! Still anxious about herring from the other schools though.

Thinking that myself! I have too much to sift through honestly but I'm wondering if I'm including things just to fill space or not.

I think it's fine to have less to be honest as long as you feel the work is good. And it's the modern internet age. If they like what they see, they might look at your website to see more. But that's just speculation.

Hey, everyone! I graduated from VCUarts MFA Kinetic Imaging (time-based and new media art) program last spring (2021). This forum was helpful when I was applying, so I'd be happy to pay it back if I can and answer any questions that might help you. In addition to Kinetic Imaging, I also took classes from other departments at VCU like Sculpture and Photo + Film, and I probably had classes with other students from almost every other department (graphic design, painting/printmaking, craft/ceramics/glass/fiber/wood, etc.).
I also have experience all the way through the interview and decision process at other schools I applied to (CalArts, Columbia, Cranbrook, NYU, RISD, SAIC, SVA, University of Michigan), so might be able to answer some questions on those, particularly emerging media, video art, sound art, etc.
I see some people say they are interested in VCU. VCU's grad open house is Sat. Nov. 13: https://arts.vcu.edu/academics/graduate/virtual-open-house/
    Good luck everybody!

Jumping in from the other forum!

This is my first year applying and my list of schools is changing constantly.
I think I know what I want and then as I get going with the process everything upends itself and I’m rethinking my choices

Oh! I went to UGA for undergrad n printmaking! It’s an absolutely fantastic art school and top rated for print media. The facilities are great too.

I would treat an about me section like an artist bio.
    mine is something like this:
“Kate Flake (b. 1991 -  Decatur, Georgia) is based in Waltham, Massachusetts but her heart and home is the hot humid air of the American South where she was born and raised. After spending three years as a teacher in Japan, she decided to return to art and delve deep into studio practice at Brandeis University as a Post Baccalaureate student.  In the studio she’s always playing with paper and testing it’s transformative possibilities. She spends countless hours making prints and drawings only to cut them up and reassemble them into something else: books, sculptures or completely new prints. Flake has a BFA in Printmaking and Book Arts from the University of Georgia and intends to pursue a master’s degree in fine art to be able to teach other people how to print lots of things and then cut them up too.”
Obviously don’t write in third person though.
    Cheers!
