  1. Not to revel in your rejection, but maybe that's a glimmer of hope for those who didn't get a similar email today from Yale?
  2. Yeah, shockingly its really not. Princeton does it, and a few others but its really not all that common. Everyone seems to do Europe and the Middle East though. Also I didn't mean Japan, I meant the whole region. Japan is just my language of study and nation of most knowledge.
  3. brouhaha, I just wanted to say that I also am very interested in East Asia and consider it my area of expertise, focus on Japan. I knew that would be a hard fit for most PhD programs so I did not advertise it on my SoP. Programs I was specifically told that would be a problem at were Yale and UT which we both applied to. For future cycles you might want to consider leaving that out as I did.
  4. Wow, FSU's funding package is much larger than I expected. I wish someone would email me about any of he schools I applied to. Guess I will have to wait until about Friday since the first notifications were mailed out today by FSU.
  5. Are you an idiot? How about you go talk to any faculty members at who gets first shot at additional funding for an RA position.
  6. No. But, yes if I don't get in somewhere.
  7. Realistically, no. Very few profs have RAs and if they do the PhD students usually get first dibs.
  8. Congrats!
  9. Subfield: IR Conflict and economic coercion.
  10. This is true. I think we have to remember that most schools have not even really started admissions or admissions for the bulk of their classes. With the flurry of CU acceptances today I asked my buddy if he heard back, and he called CU and was told to wait a week. I hope we all start hearing back by next week, and no longer than two weeks from now.
  11. Your formulaic answers are clearly reflective of someone whom works for the school and is trying to present a candy glazed picture. Please just direct questions to your work phone or the schools website, and cease your dissemination of propaganda here. This is a place to get true information from the program and not candied responses.
  12. I don't know I meant this to be POLS specific. And my blasted keyboard strikes again per my retarded looking title
  13. Decisions are said to follow shortly so expect to hear back in two to three weeks.
  14. Oh shove it. You are not any more authoritative than me. I am a second year security student here, and have been here much longer than you. Therefore I have a better perspective for the program, and I share my thoughts freely with others, both positive and negative. This is better than painting a rosy picture that exists only in fiction.
  15. Where did you apply to in the University of Denver?
  16. Update for Prospective Students It has come to my attention that the Korbel school in their infinite wisdom accepted about 150 more students last quarter than they had capacity for. As such these first year students are not finding classes for them to enroll in in this in subsequent quarters. The advice given to them by administration is to find courses in other graduate colleges on campus like Law, Social Work, or Education. This is something to closely consider if thinking about coming to DU or applying here.
  17. Right, but I said to feel comfortable. Being on or just below the average is not a comfortable place to be. Its akin to being on the bubble in March Madness bracketology projections.
  18. If you had at least a 1200 GRE I think you could feel a lot more comfortable. Although you will have an MA so that should set you apart from other applicants. Anything else like this to set you apart, like articles or anything? Other than that I think you should find a spot in one or two of those programs, as long as the budget crisis hasn't hurt them badly.
  19. Not to ruffle any feathers, butttttttttt. The Democrats had not just majorities in both houses of Congress and a sitting President, but filibuster-proof majorities for an entire year. They could of rammed any legislation they wanted through without compromising. The fact that they didn't is a good indicator that the failure to pass UHC has little to do with Republican opposition. This was not te only example either. The Cap n' Trade Bill, gays in the military, Guantanamo Bay, and Iraq.
  20. This poll is completely biased to the preconceived notion that universal health care is automatically a good thing.
  21. Heard anything from TAMU?

  22. +1 for Scott as well. Buy your own health insurance you freeloaders.
  23. I'm a big fan of the space weaponization field as well. Perhaps we can publish a paper or something.
  24. Has sand lodged in my keyboard... please excuse typos
