  1. Agreed. I guess personally it came from me not feeling like I wanted to pay $100 app fee knowing that the school gets close to a 1,000 applications!
  2. Are there any other POC's out there who's scoping out schools recent alumni and current students and faculty members to make sure that you're wont be he only artist of color. I just don't want to be the only token black artist. I say this because I have a few friends in other MFA programs feel isolated, like they have to fight for there work more then their white peers.
  3. Yale, Columbia and UCLA, etc tend to reject applicants that get into other top program. Often times the only rejections a person will receive will be from one of those 3 programs. Honestly reviewing these schools students work compared to other 'seemly' less selective top programs, there no major difference in the quality of work. It's not that school admission process is "tougher" but the pool of applicants is just way larger. So when someone says, "their not sure..." it usually means their not sure if there work can compete with an additional 400 or 300 applications.
  4. Well tell us more about this open house. Didn't get's to go
  5. You can be ordinary and and get into a top program. Looking through MFA programs student work, there are only a few students that are making truly extraordinary stuff.
  6. View the new faculty appointments here: https://roski.usc.edu/faculty-hire. Even if USC MFA Program somehow manage to appoint Moses and Jesus as new faculty hire, I still wouldn't touch this program with a 10 ft poll. The senior administration that was responsible for all of this still has not resign. Apply at your own risk!
  7. I'm confused by your question. Whatever you looking for might be on this spread sheet.
  8. If they have books on shelfs at major contemporary art institutions then they are practicing artist. I would recommend emailing Yale admissions.
  9. SAIC is huge, it's like a factory there! I'm looking at Yale more closely, and I'm think it might be the best fit looking at most recent alum work. Did anyone go to Grad Portfolio Day in Chicago? I went it was empty...there was barley any lines. Between the low attendance at Grad Portfolio Day in Chicago and this year Freak-out forum being so quiet... it almost seems like less people are apply to MFA programs this year?
  10. It depends on what schools you are applying to because not all MFA programs attend NPD. I personally recommend going, the schools that do attend typically send people who in someway are apart of the admission process. I've personally met a few chairs of departments/programs.
  11. - Honestly I don't think SAIC practice the one full scholarship per department or they just don't give it out every year. For sure the 30-50% might be the better bet. - Seems to be general rule of thumb that top AICAD schools rarely give full rides if ever at the MFA level. - I herd conflicting funding stories regarding VCU, so please share their response. -If money is an issue then look into fully funded state programs. They tend to offer full scholarship with sizable stipends, supply funds, free health insurance packages and generous international travel grants, etc...
  12. I'm just looking for a free education ya'll! May the MFA gods be with us... I started the freak forum last yr doe !!!!!
  13. They have a diversity scholarship for underrepresented students. So if you're a minority or a international applicant you might receive a full fellowship. Be advise that all funding is competitive and you must compete with other admitted students for it. The funding is cryptic because there isn't much of it! UPenn is a Excellence school but you might have to pay!
  14. I'm also very poor!! The funding is not so good otherwise the program seems amazing!
  15. I have, just waiting on the final word regarding funding.
  16. I didn't start the Freak out-forum back in August to be dismissive,'salty' or mean. I've actually been inboxing the individual and discussing the program further. Thanks for you concern @Waxmango and @Trapnado and best of luck on your applications this year!
  17. My response was just solely concerning researching alumni activity after school.
  18. Lord, please don't go by the ranking list, just make your own list and go by that! lol. Someone did a detail post about the rankings a few pages back...
  19. I'm always confused when people apply to MFA programs that their not entirely familiar with. You can google 'University of Pennsylvania MFA CV'. Most of the artist tend to stay in in the Philly area and a few working abroad...
  20. My SAIC Printmedia acceptance letter was dated the day after my interview. Honestly thought it was a rejection letter when I first seen it, since I herd so late. Not sure why everthing is being mailed to me while everyones else gets a phone call or email... Did any Printmedia folks get scholarship awards yet??
