Maybe they are not doing interviews this year. She said hopefully. I plan on staying optimistic until a rejection letter is handed to me by the mail man.

That is not necessarily true. They may have second rounds of admission decisions later on. So don't give up hope yet!!

I am the one who had the phone interview with a professor. He gave me some good information that I thought I would share with you all in case you were interested. He said that they have already made about five offers and that they have a narrowed it down to about twenty applicants to decide on the last five to seven spots. He said that they will be making their decisions in about the next ten days or so. I hope this helps and not stresses people out. Here's to hearing good news for all of us!

I applied last year as well and I agree that it seems like there are less people applying this year. I kind hope that is the case so I have a better chance at getting admitted somewhere. Last year everyone said that it was a really odd year because of the down turn in the economy and the finanical crisis. Hopefully a year later schools will have calmed down and not be slashing their cohort size.

Hi Everyone! I've been lurking for a while and decided to join in. I really love the Texas program and would love to go. Everything I have heard about Austin has been extremely positive. I hope we hear soon. FYI my interests are in family, stratification, and social psych. I hate the waiting process it is just brutal!

Good: Before I call anyone I am going to read and reread the letter to make sure I didn't make a mistake. Then run around screaming for a couple of minutes. 1. Husband 2. Mom and Dad 3. I have successfully distracted myself the last week or so by reading the Sookie Stackhouse novels. These are the books that the True Blood series on HBO is based on. They are addictive and there are eight of them. Since they can be read in a day this really only takes up eight days. But eights days of worrying about vampires and shape shifters is way more fun than eight days of checking my email every ten minutes. I highly recommend reading them!
