  1. hI! I realize this forum is typically dead around this time, but figured it was worth posting. For anyone who has done the 10 month BSW at Waterloo, I'm wondering if you know how quickly the prereqs can be completed. I'm looking to apply for September of 2017, and wondering if I'll have time to complete them in the time between hearing about acceptances and starting in September, or if this is something I should consider starting before being accepted. Thanks!
  2. Can anyone who has done the 1 year BSW at Lakehead in Orillia comment on what the schedule looks like from September-December. It indicates that July-September you are in class 8:30-4:30, but I'm wondering if it is necessary to like in Orillia from September-December, or if classes are infrequent enough that I could consider commuting? Thanks!
  3. Thank you so much! And good luck with admissions, I have my fingers crossed for you
  4. Thank CalendarGirl! I didn't, I'll actually be applying for the fall of 2017, I'm just trying to get an idea of which programs I should apply to. So will you hear back about whether you were accepted to the full program before you start the prereqs? Is the spring term a separate application? Isn't 10 courses a lot for a spring term? I'm confused about how that all fits in? Also do you have any concept of what the acceptance rate is like for this program? Thanks!
  5. Would anyone applying to Waterloo's BSW be able to explain to me how that process works. It says it's a 10 month program, but requires those 10 prereqs, so if you don't have them, how do you go about completing them prior to applying? I'm just finishing up my BA in psych, so I feel like I won't have many equivalencies. Thanks!
  6. Hi there! Does anyone happen to know the tuition cost for Lakehead's HBSW program? I can't seem to find any info on their website :/ Thanks!
  7. This may be an odd question for this place, but I was wondering if anyone is willing to share their strategy for financially affording grad school? I'm really interested in UofT, but their tuition appears to be about $10 000 a year, and the OSAP estimator is indicating that I will only receive about $13 000 of funding. Even with working in the summer, it seems like it would be pretty difficult to live off of that.
  8. Thank you! Do you know if they allow people to find their own placements?
  9. Does anyone know whether UofT lets students do placements outside of Toronto?
  10. Another question: has anyone had experience with deferring an offer of admission? I notice most university websites mention that you can apply to do so. However, I'm wondering if you have to have a specific reason for it, of if anyone can defer an offer?
  11. Thank you! I am working on that A, hopefully it happens XD Your experience seems incredible, I'm sure you'll be fine
  12. Hi all! I am in the process of applying for Fall 2016 2 year programs. I am completing the last year of my BA in psych. My stats are as follows: 1) one year experience volunteering on crisis line with sexual assault centre (about 10 hours per week) 2) 8 months volunteer research assistance in adolescent development lab (10 hours per week) 3) recently (September) began a placement at a housing help centre (6 hours a week) 4) Working on research methods credit ( and trying not to cry a lot in my efforts for an A in this one) 5) 3.7-3.8 GPA in last two years of study. I am planning to apply to UofT, UWindsor, and Lakehead's HBSW. Any suggestions on how I can improve my chances between now and when applications are due? Good luck to everyone applying!
  13. Hi! To anyone who has been accepted to Lakehead's HBSW program, would you be willing to post (or PM me) your stats (i.e. where you volunteered, how many hours you had, your GPA when applying)? It would be very much appreciated :>
  14. Thanks magfish! swrk, I'll definitely have to contact Waterloo. The prereq thing was really scaring me off, but knowing that it's possible to get credit for a lot of them makes it a little more manageable. Thanks!
