I also check my application pages frequently throughout the day, and my email even more so. I check the results page everyday as well, and now that I am seeing more Canadian results for both PhD and Masters programs, I can guarantee my anxiety is fighting an uphill battle. LOL.

Shep is right. I currently work for government as a writer. I am very lucky to have my position and almost all of the people in my office have M.A. degrees. It's difficult to get hired on with the public service (where I live at least...) without a graduate level education of any kind.

Ok, thanks! I feel much better about my situation.

Thanks for the responses!

Anyone else applying to Indigenous Studies Masters?

Now I'm worried! Hopefully my UVic status moves to "forwarded to the department" soon! -

Well, I guess we will have to wait it out! Luckily you have some acceptances already! -

Did it start off saying "forwarded for review" and then move to "file forwarded to department"? Just wondering since I'm checking my UVic page constantly! -
I just received an email that stated I cannot graduate this winter. I am missing one senior level option to graduate (undergrad), and so I enrolled in a senior level option for summer (May-June). I will then be fine and able to graduate successfully. However, I have already submitted all of my applications and have even received news from one school that there is a lot of interest in my file. I don't see this being a problem, or I hope it isn't... but how do I go about notifying the schools that I applied too? Do I wait until the decisions have been made? Or do I notify the graduate coordinators asap? Also - I am Canadian and from what I have been told, admissions committees for the programs I applied to are meeting during this month.

I wouldn't say its an almost acceptance just yet! I don't want to jinx my application! LOL. Also, my UVic application says "forwarded for review." Not sure where in the process that puts my application though. I found this link that kind of explains the process... Hope it helps! http://www.kaptest.com/gre/graduate-school/graduate-school-admissions -

I applied to UVic for history, and have not heard anything yet. I only just heard from Guelph today by email, stating that final decisions would be made at the end of Feb and there is a lot of interest in my application. I don't think all schools are as considerate in providing updates. So I figure that a lot of programs will be making final decisions around the end of the month. Good luck to everyone! -
I just received my first email after submitting my applications. It was from the graduate coordinator at Guelph indicating that there is a lot of interest in my file and the committee will be meeting during the last week of February to make final decisions. I was just studying and had a good momentum going and now my anxiety is through the roof! I'm pretty sure I will not be able to concentrate for the rest of the afternoon.

I grew up on Vancouver Island and love it there, so I am really hoping for a UVic acceptance. I lived in Kelowna for two years and the city did not really win me over. It is a really pretty place but it is also very small and there is not much to do. The UBCO campus is really small too. I would rank those three cities as 1) Victoria hands down, 2) Kelowna, and 3) Prince George. -
The grad secretary I contacted was for the history department... I understand she was/is very stressed, so I am not letting it bug me too much.

History student here. I applied for M.A. programs at UVic, Dalhousie and Guelph. Has anyone had any bad experiences with contacting graduate secretaries/POIs? Every POI I contacted was incredibly nice, however the graduate secretary at Guelph was very rude.

Sorry! I did NOT apply to the Indigenous Studies program, only considered it! However I did apply to UVic already but for an M.A. history program! I did part of my undergrad in Kelowna at OC and then transferred to a school in Alberta. How about you? -

Just wondering what schools you applied too? I am applying for history programs, but considered maybe applying to the Indigenous Studies program at UVic, as that is another area of interest for me (first being modern German history). -
As a Canadian applicant applying to Canadian universities, my first deadlines are in the next few days. Two of my applications have been forwarded for review and reading prior posts has definitely heightened my anxiety! I am already checking my email continuously throughout the day, and like @ashiepoo said earlier, I am also not being as productive at work as I should be! February is going to be difficult. LOL.

https://www.etsy.com/ca/listing/153636225/thank-you-teacher-personalised-papercut?ref=shop_home_active_5 This is the card I bought, it was delivered super fast to Canada from the UK, and I am very happy with my purchase. The inside of the card is blank.

How is funding in Ontario? I have heard bad things about funding for masters degrees in the humanities. My application deadlines all fall around Feb. 1st, so I am in my last few days of double checking all of my documents... I can't wait for everything to be submitted... Also, good luck on your application.

Not sure if Purdy's chocolates reach the East coast, but I always gift 'sweet georgia browns' from Purdy's chocolates. I have had two out of three academic influences tell me it was their favourite chocolate. However, all three are originally from the West coast! (Canada).

The etsy user name is: chloescraftsuk; she also has a fb page: Chloe's Crafts (UK). The card I ordered has not arrived, so I have no review to provide just yet!

@BlackBear50 I wrote a second year undergrad paper on Acadian history... (sorry I forget that paper! but the focus was on New Brunswick Acadians and their expulsion to the southern U.S.) and I found it super interesting. I have little to no knowledge on your topic, however, I am very interested in Marxist theory. I did my undergrad honor's thesis on the ideological origins of Leninism. If we both end up at dalhousie, I will be excited to hear more about your research. Good luck!

Thanks MathCat and ashiepoo72, I should know better to trust my own instinct, and I will wait.
