  1. Just ask him if he's ever thought about natural male enhancement. That'll shut his ass up.
  2. Well I work for a candy company, so if anyone's truly embracing the stress eating and is in the mood for something in particular ...
  3. You interested in some session work? I'm in the States, but technology can make that irrelevant! My band's name is Tyrannical Chauvinism (satirical instrumental death metal). Shades of Tony Danza, Veil of Maya, Gwen Stacy, Misery Signals. Lemme know! 1. Guitarist ^ 2. Professor/Food scientist 3. Sensory analyst in industry 4. Science communicator/journalist
  4. I didn't really know what to say exactly. I'm glad you could articulate what I was thinking, though. Try playing drums, ChocoLatte! I need a drummer for my band. We could make a GradCafe studio death metal group.
  5. It's easy to come down on people who are stressed when you aren't stressed.
  6. Right?! It should be leaps and bounds easier than UPS tracking systems, and they have it down. Higher learning my ass.
  7. Wow, that was great! That makes me feel a lot better.
  8. Definitely the latter, but it might be a good sign as well! It certainly isn't bad - unless you put "Biggest Frat Bro at Toga State" as an occupation.
  9. I'm afraid to take a side on any argument because I don't know when white privilege comes into play. Does it always, because I'm always white (and therefore privileged)? Political correctness has never seemed so oppressive.
  10. Well, the way I see it, the people who are interviewing you should already know that you're a current undergraduate student (from your application at the very least). If they want to mention it, they'll mention it. If you don't feel comfortable with bringing it up yourself, I wouldn't recommend it. I've personally never heard that graduate schools would rather not take in students from their own undergraduate program; in fact I've heard the opposite from my alma mater regarding engineering students especially. A good way to use it as a strength (if asked, or if you want to bring it up) would be to mention the importance of a good learning environment. Since you've already been around the campus and know how everything works, your time to adjust to graduate life will be greatly reduced! Not if you don't let it impact socialization! I'm not sure how you "feel" about drinking, but respectful people tend to be understanding of people who prefer not to drink. Plus, you're underage, so it's not even a talking point as to why you wouldn't order a drink at dinner. I wouldn't worry about it!
  11. Well for starters, the verbal section is mostly vocabulary words. I'd say your best bet for big improvement is to get some flash cards and try to memorize a few definitions!
  12. So you don't even have any tentative grades for Fall '14 yet? Maybe it's not official in BlackBoard, but have you been keeping track?
  13. Could mean a few things: 1. Fall 14 + Anticipated Spring 15 (although it's too early even for that, I think) 2. Spring 14 + Fall 14 (shot in the dark, but it IS your final year on record as of right now) 3. Just Fall 14 (and if they ask, let them know)
  14. That's definitely not a requirement for EVERY school who offers a Masters in SLP. Do a little more digging! I'm sure someone here could suggest some schools to start with. Some people on here respond unconditionally, but others (i.e., ones who actually help) will need to see credentials. You should reply to this with your GPA, test scores, research experience, interests, etc.
  15. Sounds like you have your answer. I mean, it's still really shitty, but there's no way your friend could have understood what you were going through unless you had just told her about it before she got drunk. Heh
  16. Thanks! I'll definitely PM you eventually. I found a few articles to get me started. I want to narrow down publications, too. My grades were pretty steady. Steady and poor. Hahaha.
  17. Do they at least mask the "treating like shit" with good benefits and pay and things like that? That's what they do at my work. My parents are all, "you should be grateful for the money", but I don't give a SHIT about the money! I want a good fit that'll actually get me experience to get where I want to go.
  18. I mean aptitude in general. My GPA was 2.5 in college. I transferred out and back into the school I eventually graduated from and had staggering anxiety issues. I was afraid to even go outside! I walked out of exams without completing them on more than one occasion. Now that I've been out a year and all outside factors have been blocked out / reconciled (i.e., I've become more a mature adult than a high school student expecting to succeed through sheer momentum and anxious over-studying), it's time to make a push. That takes me to another issue, though: my LOR's probably won't be from chemistry professors. I'm guessing I'll have 2 industrial and 1 English professor. The English professor is more relevant than one would think, since the class was an Internship Practicum, and I was writing about my work with a biotechnology company.
  19. WTF, it's only Tuesday?

  20. All very good points. I guess I'm freaking out about mastering biology in addition to acing the GRE, since my GPA doesn't accurately reflect my aptitude. I know it's probably important to mention that I'm not currently in a lab. I'm doing QA in a warehouse. Yeah, I was leaning towards waiting until after classes for the chem GRE, after applications become the next priority.
  21. Thanks for the response! I should clarify that. I graduated last year with a BS in chemistry, but my program didn't require me to take biology ... at all. Haha. As awesome as that was, now that I'm looking at food science for graduate school, I have to take bio/biochem/micro to make my graduate profile a little more appealing. Seeing as it'll take a while to get those courses done while I'm working 45+ hours a week, it probably won't be till this time next year when I'm finishing applications--so that makes me reconsider my plan to take the GRE relatively soon. Sadly since I graduated over a year ago, I don't have access to those databases anymore. Those were awesome. Maybe I should do a little digging to see who's who in food science, though. Great suggestion.
  22. The more the merrier. Do you work on weekends only or what? I just started this job, and "chance of overtime" was quickly changed to "six days a week required". Fuckin stupid.
  23. So I think when I apply to OSU I'm going to take a day off to drive to Columbus and hand-write everything.
  24. Come on, 82 views and nothing? I start general biology in 6 weeks. Do I take the GRE before then or maybe in the summer? I need some help directing my studies!
  25. I was totally kidding, for the record. I hate my job too!
