It depends. Tuition varies according to residency (resident, non-resident, or Minnesotan) and how many credits you're taking. Right now (Spring 2010) for residents, it's $659.11 for the first credit, plus $657.11 for every credit after that, up to a maximum of $5258.88. Non-residents pay $1568.78 for the first credit, plus $1566.78 for every credit after that up to a maximum of $12536.24. Minnesotans pay $766.13 for the first credit, $764.13 for every credit after that, a maximum of $6115.04. And everyone pays segregated fees: $65.38 for the first credit, $63.38 after that, up to $509.04. Hope that helps.

Oh, and its "Sconnies." We've got it on shirts here.

Would you be working with Dunlavy then? You can make it a semester unfunded here. It can be cheap living if you make it so.
-
I am genuinely sorry to hear it, Goober. How many are still out there for you?
-
I'll PM you the details. I'd rather not share all of it since it was a real, honest-to-God personal email. I don't know if they sent out acceptances yet. I've seen none reported.

Got an email just a few minutes ago from the co-chair of the history department and Brandeis. They were impressed with my application, and I definitely know it is not a form letter because they talked about specifics in my statement of intent. So, imagine how I'm feeling at this point. Good words: elated, overjoyed, ecstatic. Now throw those words out. Because the department is so small, they've had to waitlist me. They said they "hope to be able to offer you admission (and a fellowship) soon...but aren't in a position to do so just yet." Yes, I gave a cry of anguish. But I'll be in touch with them soon. I guess I should be happy - really happy. But I'm the instant gratification type; too much time on the interwebs I guess. So that's been my day: Princeton reject, Brandeis waitlist, and thesis writing. Thank God the Olympics are on soon.

Also finding the same thing at Northwestern. But no one has come on here and admitted to being one of the people admitted to Northwestern. Could be a false positive. ... Hey, after Princeton I need the naive hope.

Who's your advisor? Yes, Madison is really a great place to live. I'm kinda sad I'll be leaving it at the end of the summer. You're going to enjoy it a lot!

Yeah, I might have done terrible things if I had to attend the Graduate School of Glee.

Duke (Duke, Duke, Duke of Earl.)

Nope, I'm still on evaluation. I think academic review is the same thing, unless I'm wrong. OSU usually gets out later anyway, from my understanding.

Got the official Yale rejection. Not surprised, surmised it was coming. I can kind of breathe easier now. They had 10,400 applicants for graduate studies this year! Amazing.

Taking 12 credits. One class is astrobiology, one is on weather and climate, the other is on "legendary performers" (Scott Joplin, Eddie Cantor, Ethyl Merman, etc.). Writing my undergraduate thesis. Going out three nights a week, catching up with old friends. Doing band, performing in towns throughout the state. Overall, life is good except for the lack of an acceptance letter.
-
Caligula, since you and I are in the same subset of history...have you heard anything, like an email or something? Because I'm getting this troubling feeling of doom...
-
Ugh, Yale accepts are depressing. Looks like I can expect another rejection.
-
Woof. Us UW rejects just got swept today. Oh well, at least I knew this one was coming.

Interesting, I thought the History Channel was based in New York. Either way, hope you got a good laugh and something good in the envelope (like season 1 of Pawn Stars or something). I'm not surprised that Wisconsin sent a second letter reaffirming that you were accepted. I mentioned to my professor (who is on the Adcom) that some people were surprised at how early the decisions came out, and some weren't sure if it was real! I guess they got enough of those comments to warrant a second letter.
-
I think Wisconsin sends their funding notifications out later, if I recall my conversations with a professor correctly. In a marginally related note, the Mellon Institute granted $1.8 million yesterday for the Humanities to hire twelve postdoctoral students, three each year for the next four years, and to make more courses available. Congrats to those who got in to Yale. I'm still waiting to hear from them. What time did you guys find out, and how?

I wager I'm going to be waitlisted at a few places, or at the bottom of the barrel for others. I wish I knew which method of contact is more likely for which school. That way I can diversify my psychosis to a number of possible media.

Well, Stanford is on the map; both reported on the results page, and my friend also got into Stanford for History. Good thing I didn't apply there.

Go to Alcohol. Go directly to Alcohol. Do not pass Liquor Cabinet, do not collect 200$.

Recently finished The Forest by Edward Rutherfurd. Currently reading American Pharaoh by Adam Cohen and Elizabeth Taylor, and The Source by James A. Michener.

I'd say UC system has been hit the worst. UW has been having a rough time of it for a while now. First there was a Republican-controlled legislature that had no real desire to spend money on a "liberal bastion" school. Then the economy tanked and the state's trying to distribute its scant resources where it can.
