Congratulations to the new Yale interview posted on the results survey! Is anyone going to finally claim any of these?
-
Yes, I think you're probably right. Eek. Another reason to be on edge next week.
-
Just wanted to ask if anyone has more info on this, and to send big congrats to the poster.
-
Well, another week is almost finished. One week closer to results. At least on Fridays I can breathe a sigh of relief for a few days and relax, since adcoms most likely won't send anything over the weekend. Just another two weeks until we start getting into the thick of it.

You are not a horrible person. I made the same decision. I promise. You said it yourself. You don't want a UK degree. That is more than enough reason and no pressure should make you second guess that.
-
Congrats Tay!

That's solid advice. I made a Plan B for myself before sending out any applications. It does help a bit to know I have something to fall back on if (gulp) I don't get any offers.
-
In an effort to be less neurotic, I am supposed to be taking today (my day off) to do something fun and relaxing. I am also going to attempt to stay away from TGC until at least this evening. Baby steps.

Uh oh, life, work, or school decisions?
-
I keep thinking I'm not too stressed out, but then I'll jump each time I hear my email alert go off. I'd follow the advice to stay away from the boards, but I know that 1. I would be more stressed out not keeping in touch with other people going through the process and 2. I wouldn't be able to "just forget about it" until notifications come. I vacillate between stress and genuine curiosity. I just want the next month to fly by. I'm sure we all do.

Safferz, you are right. As always.

Your application switched to a new department?

I had something similar, but not quite so drastic happen. I got an email from a POI at one of my top choices. They think I'd be a good candidate for an interdisciplinary program, which would mean more funding, which would (hopefully) mean a better shot at getting admitted. After talking it over with the POI, I agreed that it would be an excellent fit. Let's just hope it pans out in an offer. And I hope yours ends in an offer, too! -
Crater, I was wondering the same thing. I know that Yale is usually pretty efficient in getting their decisions out, so I wouldn't be surprised if they were doing interviews, I guess. But it still seems a tad early. I'm not much help, I know. Just wanted to commiserate.

Telemaque, I'm sure you're right.
-
Haha, thanks. I am hoping you have a less stressful semester this time around, too. At least with applications out of the way, you won't have that on your plate. I am still just feeling more curious about decisions than anything. I'm not feeling terribly stressed right now. I know it's out of my hands. But still, I wish I knew when the adcoms were meeting so I could just forget about it until then.

Has anyone claimed the Yale or Penn posts? I didn't apply to Penn, but I'm sure everyone would appreciate the info.
-
Haha, you are the first to notIce.
-
Yeah, I saw that and my heart sank a bit. But big congratulations to that poster!
-
Chime. The best advice my advisor gave me: schedule your breakdown.
-
How much does your POI interest in you help?

No need to feel silly! -
Tay, do you ever find that Academia.edu lists several searches/page views, but didn't catch the search keywords?
-
Well, I just look at my stats on my Academia.edu page. I'm not sure about everyone else.
-
Yes, I've had several over the past couple of days. One can only hope this is a good sign, right?
-
Thanks, oseirus!

Awww, C&C. That's actually pretty funny. Deep breaths. Vodka. Chocolate. Repeat. In an effort to keep my mind of off applications, I decided that now would be a great time to start brushing up on one of my other languages. I thought I'd solicit thoughts on Rosetta Stone. Anyone? It's for a romance language that I have very little training in, but would like to be able to read someday, and to speak a little of. Have any of you used it? Do you recommend it? I'd rather spend $500 on the complete set than $5500 to take the summer courses.
