I haven't done it personally, but my friend last year submitted her CSDCAS apps before all of her rec letters were in. They were turned in later, and she was fine (she got in!). I wouldn't worry about it :)

I would ask each school individually if it's not already listed. I've done the same, and gotten wildly different answers: 1 page double spaced, 2 pages single spaced, 1.5 pages at 1.5 spacing, etc. It's best to check with each school to be sure.

I was in the same boat with my grades. Definitely address them in your SOP. It doesn't have to be some long, meticulously detailed thing. For me, I explained the grades and took up about a paragraph discussing what was going on in my life that impacted me. However, I also made sure to discuss how it helped me grow as a person and what I've learned from it, as well as comparing it to my academic successes afterward. And don't worry about not having a family member who went through SLP to talk about in your essay. I have been told repeatedly from professors that admissions committees read that type of essay over and over again. You want something that will make you stand out. I don't think there's anything boring about interest in the material being the reason you chose this major. If it's fascinating, if you're passionate about it, it will come through in your essay. Passion is what I think schools like to see.

This is my second year applying. I've decided on 7 schools so far, but am finishing up deciding on the other 4-5 I'll add to my list. I'm procrastinating a little bit on reworking my SOP for this year's apps lol; I'm not ready to let go of summer. But I can't wait until CSDCAS opens so I can get this ball really rolling!

Hope everyone had a good summer! For all the 2nd year applicants out there, I'm wondering how you guys are approaching this application season. Have you changed which schools you're applying to? Have you retaken the GRE or rewritten your SOP? Have you enrolled in any post-bacc classes? I'm not excited to go through all of this stress again, but I know it will be worth it in the end. Here's to another 8 months of constant email checking!

Schools are fine with a 4.0. I wouldn't worry with those scores!

@WisconsinNite99 congrats on getting an interview! Definitely let me know what happens. I also said I'd be willing to go in for an interview, but since I'm on the East coast they may not have taken that very seriously lol. Oh well, it's been out of my control for a while now so all I can do is wait and see.

Well, @WisconsinNite99, looks like we won't hear about second round of wait list admits until toward the end of the month. This is just dragging on!

Best graduate courses to take as a non-matriculate?
DeWi replied to SundayMatinee's topic in Speech-Language Pathology Forum
I'm taking some pre-req classes my undergrad didn't offer through Utah State University online. They seemed to have a wide array to offer, and are only $290 per credit. I've heard good things about their classes, and the staff I spoke with were super nice and helpful. Check them out! http://www.comd.usu.edu/htm/online-programs/non-degree-seeking/course-registration-non-degree -
I would say Rush and Whitewater are definitely my top two. I had been leaning Rush for a long time, because I'm interested in aphasia and neurogenics and the medical aspect of the field. As amazing as it would be to live in Chicago, I think Whitewater is better fit for me because I can also do aphasia/neurogenics, the tuition is almost half as expensive, cost of living is lower, and considering I just bought a car last year it makes more sense for me to be in a suburban location (plus then I can visit Chicago/Milwaukee/Madison on the rare days I'm free!) I also really enjoy the fact that they have a small cohort, and I've had positive experiences with everyone I've spoken to there. Aaaaand my boyfriend is from Wisconsin...and I know how badly he wants to get back to the Midwest; I've never lived anywhere but the East Coast and want to experience somewhere new! I've had a tiny little hope deep down that they might consider that. I've responded to every email about remaining on the waitlist almost immediately since I've been stalking my inbox. Maybe I look crazy, haha, but I'm hoping it would show how excited I still am to have a chance. Here's to hoping we can make an impression!

@WisconsinNite99, I'm still on the UW-W wait list; I hope we both get good news from them! I have my heart set on Whitewater. & thanks for the positive thoughts, as always, @polarbeara 3/4 schools I'm waitlisted at said their first round of wait list acceptances have until 5/1 to accept or decline their spot. Here's to another week of waiting! If you guys haven't heard from your school about waitlists, just send them an e-mail. Only Rush hasn't responded (I may have emailed the wrong address..), and everyone else was super nice and gave me a heads up on the time frame!

Ugh, I officially haven't been on the first round of waitlist acceptances for two schools now (Loyola & UW-W)...haven't been rejected, though, and won't be unless all spots are already filled. So here's to hoping their waitlisted acceptances want to go elsewhere. SXU has sent out their first found of waitlist acceptances by postal mail, so now I have to obsessively check that. And nothing from Rush. This is so frustrating!

Unfortunately I had some bad grades and a break from school due to some pretty turbulent personal times, and it's a shame that my overall GPA doesn't truly reflect who I am as a student. My SOP definitely covered this, but its sucks that a lot of this just comes down to a numbers game! Thank you! As awful as it is, I'm just thankful I still have a chance, albeit small. I can't imagine how I'd feel with rejections across the board.
