Good to know. Of course schools can be subject to political nonsense at times, but I'm glad to hear at least one WI school is handling it just fine. Thanks!

Bummed to hear about your response from IL State. I have faith in you though; stay positive!!

Since I also applied mainly to MW schools, I'm piggybacking a question on this...I'm not from the Midwest, so my knowledge is limited. Does anyone know how concerned schools are about the lack of a budget in Illinois and the budget cuts to public universities in Wisconsin?

Official Fall 2016 Interview Thread

Hmm, I'm not sure. I suppose better late than never? I think if you keep it short and appreciative you'll be fine. I doubt anyone would think "oh, two weeks later? Horrible! Rejected!" lol -
Official Fall 2016 Interview Thread

I emailed the professor that interviewed me and the department chair thanking them for the opportunity and saying how I felt the program was a good fit/liked the campus. Something short and sweet. Been told by other classmates that they did the same. I think it's polite and keeps your name fresh in their mind! -
AHHHHH! I got my first acceptance today, University of Wisconsin-Whitewater!!!! I'm so happy I don't have to go through this process for a third time.
-
Yes! The grad admissions department said they just started adding in decisions, and that there are ~400 so it could take through tomorrow. Last year it seemed like only acceptances were updated on the portal, but not waitlists/rejections, so I'm extra anxious.
-
That feeling when you wake up to someone being accepted into one of your schools and your portal hasn't changed. Today is going to be an anxious mess!

Anyone else still waiting on first acceptance?
DeWi replied to SpeechieM's topic in Speech-Language Pathology Forum
Me! Though I have gotten waitlists/rejections so far, it sucks not having had any acceptances yet. And I went through the same thing last year, waiting for most responses until mid-late March. Don't get discouraged-- A LOT of schools don't send out decisions until March has gotten underway. I was surprised by how many schools started earlier this year. It sucks waiting, but remember you WILL get a response eventually -
Has anyone heard from these schools?

Has anyone heard anything from Southern Illinois University @ Carbondale? I have not heard back from the department on a ballpark date to expect decisions -
You must have misread my signature; I didn't apply to Syracuse. But how long ago did you get that email? You should follow up.

I'm sorry to hear that; rejections are never fun. Keep your chin up, though. One rejection is not the end of the road!

Agreed, I was not prepared for the location. It seems like it would be a nice change, though, after having lived in the built-up northeast my whole life. I really enjoyed my time there but of course the questions I came prepared to answer were not really asked. Overall got a good vibe though. I'm hoping they don't make us wait more than a week or two to hear back. Good luck! -
For anyone applying to Illinois State, I was just informed that they hope to have decisions made by next week!

Did you end up going to the Governors State interview? What did you think? -
If you find yourself in that situation, you would most certainly not be the first person to rescind your commitment. Pretty sure some people went through the same thing on here last year. The original school won't be thrilled about it I'm sure, but it's your future you have to be concerned with. Don't worry about it

Has anyone ever heard of an applicant being rejected after an interview? I would like to think that interviews are just to sort out acceptances vs wait lists. -
Fingers crossed! If I am remembering correctly from last year, both they and UW Milwaukee saw some solid movement on their wait lists after April 15th. And congrats on not having a rejection as your first response
-
Wait listed at one of my top choices, UWSP. Happy to have heard relatively early, but now it's going to be torture waiting until after April 15th to see if there's any room for me!

Does anyone have information on what to expect from Governors State University interviews and writing prompt? -
I got my first interview!!!! Governors State. After only getting wait lists last year, this feels AMAZING!

Need help calculating last 60 units
DeWi replied to jenn108's topic in Speech-Language Pathology Forum
From what I understand, schools don't pick and choose classes if your last 60 units includes half of a semester. They will calculate the last 63, or 65, or whatever units needed to include that full semester rather than splitting it up. As far as summer classes go, if you took it "in the middle" of your last two years, it will be included (ie: last two years are fall 2014-spring 2016, a class taken in summer 2015 would be included). I am not sure in this scenario, though, if a summer 2014 class would be included.- 3 replies

I recommend doing some research. Take a look at ASHA's list of schools and their GPA/GRE ranges, see where you fit or are close to, and email each school individually. I did it this year, and I got some really great responses from programs letting me know if I am or am not similar to the students they have previously accepted. It definitely helped me narrow down where it made sense to apply, and I'm pretty confident in my decisions. Good luck!

Is anyone CSDCAS verified yet? If so, when was your submit date? I'm having a hard time getting in contact with them, and last year verifications around this time seemed to go a lot faster. Just getting a little nervous that they didn't get a transcript or something. Thanks!
