I agree, I would rather just be rejected off of a waitlist than to be left in limbo. I can only assume none of us have heard either way because those who have already been offered a spot from off the waitlist have a few days to make a final decision. I've had a few professors tell me most schools notify waitlisted people within a week. I just want to get this over with; I would be so much more productive without stalking my email!

I'll definitely be applying again if I am rejected off of waitlists. If I don't get one of the Research Assistant positions I applied for, I plan on spending the next year doing lots of volunteering in different types of clinics, as well as becoming an adult literacy tutor. I also plan on being more involved in organizations that aren't necessarily related to SLP, but that I have a huge interest in. Make yourself stand out!

True, I am grateful to have four rather than just one. Unfortunately I know nothing about where I stand!

I'm also super anxious...all I have are waitlists! I just want to get through April and not have to worry anymore

Loyola University Accepted and Waitlisted for Fall 2015
DeWi replied to clmogel's topic in Speech-Language Pathology Forum
I was wait listed and happily accepted my spot...all I have are wait lists! I'm honestly surprised that I was even waitlisted here; my GPA is not competitive. I'm excited for the even a small chance to get off of the wait list though! -
Just officially received my last decision...5 rejections and 4 wait lists! Though I'm grateful I did get some wait lists and wasn't rejected across the board, I am so not looking forward to having to continue playing the waiting game!

Getting into graduate school with a low gpa
DeWi replied to etriplett's topic in Speech-Language Pathology Forum
My overall is a 3.1 so I feel your pain. Definitely choose schools with higher acceptance rates, and write a killer personal statement. Relevant research and volunteer experience will help bolster your application. So far that's gotten me 3 wait lists and no acceptances (I should have done more research before applying, honestly), so if I'm not accepted off of a wait list I'm going to take some pre-reqs online (even though I've essentially covered that material in my undergrad) and volunteer at a local hospital to improve my application. Having a low GPA isn't hopeless, but you do have to strategize and it is stressful, but I'm a firm believer that it can work. I wish you the best of luck! -
Online Prerequisites (not a full postbacc)

A few questions for those of you who are taking/ have taken prereqs.. 1) Does anyone have experience with Longwood's program? I think it's cheaper than USU, but to be honest USU's tuition page had me a little confused (so if anyone has input on out of state cost per credit for them that would also be great!) 2) How many classes are you taking at a time? I think I only want to take 2 or 3 courses, so if I'm taking just the two I'm wondering if I should do both simultaneously or split them between semesters. 3) A few prereq courses schools have asked for are covered across 2 different courses or are combined into one course for my university. Are any of you taking prereq courses that are similar to your undergrad but have different titles/course descriptions? Or are you guys purely taking classes you have had no experience with before? I've got 3 wait lists and no acceptances yet, so I'm preparing myself for a year off. Thanks in advance!! -
Lots of people on my campus are using tote bags lately, but I personally prefer to carry a backpack on busy days...it carries more and weight is distributed more evenly!

I agree with you MangoSmoothie, I'm a very friendly person but I am also one of those people who needs ample alone time to recharge. I used to have roommates and I felt so guilty staying in my room with the door closed and not hanging out with them all the time, or I would get irritated when I needed to get something done and everyone else was partying. I've been on my own with my cat for 2 years now and I couldn't be happier. My apartment is my own personal space that I can run and organize how I want, but I still have a good social life! I'll definitely be living alone

I've made at least 4 spread sheets regarding where to apply this round/where to apply if I don't get in this year/schools that have this or that. It actually helped all my anxiety about getting decisions back. Preparation is good and at least lets you feel like you have a good standing of what you're looking for!

NSSLHANerd: yeah, that is my concern. But who knows! Congratulations, I'm happy we both got good news today
