Guys, maybe some of you have experienced this before, so I hope you could help me. The thing is I`m going to study to the university at the city A, but I want to visit the city B first with my brother (take into your account that he is on B-2 visa). So me and my brother wrote in our DS-160 that we are going to A (btw there is no direct flight to A, so we will have to travel to the other cities anyway, but not necessarily B ). However, we are planning to enter the US at the city B, so would be there any problem at customs or anywhere else?

I guess the USC is much better in ranking, isn`t it? I have never heard of Columbia, while I heard a lot of positive stuff on USC, though I`m an international student, I mean I dont live in the US, so I might be wrong

Hi, guys, I`m going to the US to obtain MSc. I`m on assistantship, so I will get salary, which hopefully, can be enough to cover my mom`s living expenses as well. I want my mom to come to the US after some time to stay for 2-3 months. 1. First of all, is that possible? 2. What kind of documents do we need to present to get visa for my mom and so she would be allowed to stay for 2-3 months?

Ok, I think I once asked similiar thing, but I didn`t manage to find that topic, and besides and I`m going to ask some new things. Let`s say after 1 year I decide to leave the PhD program (with graduate research assistantship with full tuition) at the uni A. People told me that there might be problems with my transfer to another US university, but I don`t know specifically, what problems can occur and how I can avoid them. So here are my questions. 1. First of all, briefly, how would procedure of leaving a PhD program look like? 2. At the moment, I also have been admitted to another university B, but I deferred my enrollment for 1 year; well, actually it`s not deferment, they call it 'update', so they updated my application to Fall 2016 term, and there is no guarantee that I will be re-admitted, so they simply will re-evaluate it for another term. And they say that if I enroll in any course at the other university during that time, I will have to send an official transcript. Here is my question, if I enroll and don`t inform them and don`t send an official transcript, how will they know? 3. Now, as I said, let`s say, after 1 year I decided to leave PhD at the uni A (PhD) and plan to send official transcript to uni B (MSc). Will be there any problem? Can my advisor or anyone from uni A create problems for this?

I`m going to fly to the US for the first time. And that is why there are many questions that concern me. 1. First of all, there is no direct flight from my city A to the city B where my university is located, but there is a direct flight from my city to New-York (JFK), so I can fly this way: A --> JFK --> B. So, there are 2 options for me to fly to the US: a) A --> JFK --> B Note: flight from A to JFK would take approximately 13 hours. b ) A --> some european cities (like Frankfurt, Istanbul, London and etc.) --> B So which way would you recommend me, guys? Direct flight to the US or via tranfers in 2-3 european cities? I never traveled so long, is it okay to travel 12-13 hour in one single flight or it is better to fligh 3-4 hours per flight? 2. Let`s say, I go multicity way, like let`s say this way: A --> Frankfurt --> London --> Miami --> B And I have only US visa, will I need Shengen visa when I enter Frankfurt? Or British visa when I enter London? 3. What about baggage? Do they transfer it automatically to another airplane or will I have to take it myself and go through checkpoint? 4. What about gap time between flights? How to know if it is enough? 5. Generally, guys, what should I know about connection flight?

Guys, should I write some kind of letter for my brother? But I think it is not acceptable since I`m not in the US and I`m not the US citizen, what do you think, guys?

So as I`ve said before my brother is going to accompany me during my travel to the US. He will stay 1-2 weeks in the US with me and then come back. And I have applied for F-1 visa and haven`t mentioned him as a Travel Companion, and he has applied for B-2 visa. 1. He is going to put some big amount to his account to show on visa interview. Does it matter when he put that amount? 2. Will it be a problem if he withdraws his money from his account later after showing it on the interview? 3. In his application he mentioned me as a US point of contact, while I`m not in the US, I haven`t even got a visa yet, is it okay? 4. Does he have to show some kind of document to show that we are brothers? 5. Is it okay if he attends the interview alone or I have to go with him? Please, guys, I really need your help, thank you very much in advance.

Guys, how do you look for an apatment to live in? What things do you consider when you choose an apartment? I`m going to move to Laramie in August, I plan to live in university apartment although I doubt that I`m doing right thing as I have heard that they have very strict rules, so they can charge me more than I expect. What do you think guys? Please, share your experience

But should my brother list my mother as a travel companion in his DS-160?
-
Also, I would like to know the following: My brother will travel with me but my mother will travel later (let`s say 2 months later) but with my brother. So should my brother list my mother as a travel companion in his DS-160? I simply do not how these things work, will they get separate visas or 1 visa for both? I simply want them (my brother and mother) to be able to visit me while I will be in the US, but the thing is my brother can and will visit me alone, but my mother will never travel alone, she will travel with my brother. So that is why I think she doesn`t need a separate visa, am I right? So will they have one interview for both?

1. I plan to travel to the US with my brother, I have already applied for F-1 visa and my brother is going to apply for B-2 visa; how do you think guys, is it a good idea to buy tickets and book a room in a hotel before getting our visas and show it on a visa interview? Can that somehow help to get our visas? 2. What are the reasons in most of cases of B-2 visa refusal or denial?
-
Btw, guys, I never applied for any visa, so I don`t know these things, so here is my question: is some kind of proof of sufficient fund required for B-2 visa? I mean, some bank receipt and etc?
-
Thank you very much for your reply. Yeah, I plan to do the same thing
-
What if I add my relative as travel companion? In that case my relative wont need a separate ds-160?
-
Hi, I am going to apply for F-1 visa and I want to travel with one of my relatives. Does anyone know what kind of visa is need for my brother/sister or other relative to enter the US? And is a separate application (for my relative) needed for that?
-
I have recently received my I-20. What should I do next to get F-1 visa? (Btw, I`m on assistantship)
-
Thank you guys for your replies! So I guess it would be easier to get a job after MSc rather than after PhD.

Dear forum, is it possible to get a job in Engineering after completion of MSc or PhD? What is the best way for an international student to get a job in the US?
