Are you sure about it? Because, I have read on the other websites that it is possible and that student can receive multiple I-20s and then choose one and apply for visa using this one and there will be no problem. Maybe, you got me wrong, I do not mean the visa itself, I mean that I-20 form, which university sends to international students

Guys, I have couple questions regarding multiple I-20s problem. 1. Is it possible to receive multiple I-20s? Is it okay? Is it okay even if I have sent passport scan to one of the universities? I mean, is it normal, can they use this information somehow in future to create any problem for me if I decline their offer and go to another uni? 2. If I`m already in the USA and study in a university, and I`m about to change the university, should I obtain new visa? Should I get new I-20? Can my first uni create a problem for me?

Guys is the body (case) of the Dell laptop (the one I mentioned above) l normal in terms of durability?
-
Thank you for your reply! I'm simply afraid that I might get ingenuine laptop if I buy from amazon/ebay, originality is very important for me, because I think original one will last longer

I am tech savvy, but my parents & relatives-not, so I will need Skype anyway. Though price is very appealing. But I`m not sure about speakers quality & volume, are they loud enough? Is what I`m thinking to buy ( http://www.dell.com/us/p/inspiron-15-5548-laptop/pd?oc=fncwm2612sw7p&model_id=inspiron-15-5548-laptop) too overpriced? Once again, I want a long lasting laptop with standard screen size, good speakers quality & volume, durable case. Any other suggestions, guys?

Chromebook doesn`t support skype

Guys, what do you think of this one? http://www.dell.com/us/p/inspiron-15-5548-laptop/pd?oc=fncwm2612sw7p&model_id=inspiron-15-5548-laptop I want this for my parents, I`m an internationa student, I`m thinking to buy laptop for them so they could call me via Skype, so the primary purpose of a laptop will be Skype calls and also I want it to be endurable and long-lasting, I mean I do not want my parents have frequent problems with laptop and take it to service. Also, I would like it to have good sound/speakers. What would you recommend, guys? Is my choice ok?

2015 Applicant Profiles and Admissions Results

Guys, today I have received an email that I have been accepted to USC, what about scholarship or fellowship? Will I receive it in a separate email if I`m awarded? Should I contact my department regarding scholarship? Because, I once did and I do not want appear annoying. Do students usually receive email on funding later after decision letter? -

Exactly the same thing happened to me, I have been accepted to MEng to the UofTulsa. As far as I know, there is no funding for MEng. I`m an international like you and I can`t accept the admission offer without funding -
I`m just thinking what if I don`t like PhD program and have an offer for MSc by that time
-
Guys, I just thought of the following: (but please do not jump to conclusions about what I am asking, it is not what you might think) Let`s say I receive an offer from uni 1 on fully funded PhD position for Fall 2015, I accept it, but at the same time I had already applied for MSc program at uni 2 for Spring 2016. Now, let`s say, I go to uni 1, start doing my PhD for 1-2 months, then I receive an offer on fully funded MSc at uni 2 for Spring 2016, will I be able to go for the program at 2 if I leave the program at 1? what might be the problem here? p.s. I`m an international student p.p.s. both unis are in the US

2015 Applicant Profiles and Admissions Results
virtua replied to InquilineKea's topic in Earth Sciences Forum
Guys, I have just thought of the following: as we know, students have right to answer to an offer made by the university till the April 15th, let`s say a student gets an offer from university X (btw, what about other candidates? are they being 'waitlisted' or what? are they informed about such situation?) 1. let`s say the student declines it right on the 15th of April, how will the university manage this situation? do they simply make an offer to another student? 2a. let`s say the student accepts it before the April 15 (do other candidates automaticaly get rejection?) and then rejects it but before the April 15, how will the university manage this situation? Can someone please expain the whole process how universities manage applications? What is 'waitlist'? 'second round of offers'? -
How to know if a program offers it or not?

Question to PhD students: grants/scholarships during PhD?
virtua replied to virtua's topic in Officially Grads
Thank you very much! Now it is clear for me. By the way, I know my question may sound weird, but does university/department/advisor provide RA with laptop? Because, normally, in industry, companies, where I worked, provided me with a laptop; I wonder if it is same for academia. -
Question to PhD students: grants/scholarships during PhD?
virtua replied to virtua's topic in Officially Grads
Thank you, all, for your replies! Sorry, I got a bit confused. 1. So how do they determine what amount from an additional fellowship they will add to my initial stipend per year? 2. And so what is the point of winning additional fellowship/scholarship, if it is not added to my initial stipend? If I have RA salary of 25000$ per year and can win external fellowship of X of 20000$ per year, why do I have to apply for that felloship of X, if university is not going to add it to initial stipend? -
Question to PhD students: grants/scholarships during PhD?
virtua replied to virtua's topic in Officially Grads
What I actually want is to get RA salary (actually, I already have it, but I want to keep getting it at original amount)+some additional funding, I don`t know how it is called: fellowship or scholarship or grant? And my question is: is that possible? Has anyone ever experienced something like this? I mean, has anyone ever gotten any kind of funding, besides RA/TA salary? -

But how does a department know if I win an external award? -
Guys, I do not know what PhD program consists of, so sorry if my question appears silly. Do you, guys who did/are doing PhD, apply for some grants or scholarships during your PhD, and get it in addition to your TA/RA salary?
-
What is the best time to leave PhD? I mean, how & when to leave PhD (with RA position) without hurting anyone and without causing problems for anyone?

I'm in the same situation as yours, I would suggest you to accept the offer, then reject if you have better offer later. I know, everyone will attack me, saying that it is unethical and etc., but is it ethical or fair to ask student for decision before the 15th of April???
-
You mean I can be awarded by MSc degree in PhD? Could you please elaborate more on this?

What if I leave right after the 1st semester or before the 1st semester?

Can anyone bring examples of CPT and OPT? What is considered as CPT/OPT? Can I work as a RA and have CPT/OPT at the same time?
