  1. @MJDRPH Health Policy for me. Hmm....I wonder if all of the Departments are on the same timeline? The HPM folks told me we should hear back this week, but told another applicant that it was last week. Either way, it's kinda late when compared to 2018. Good luck!
  2. @MJDRPH Thanks for the update! I've been checking email nonstop, hoping to hear back today. Which concentration did you apply to?
  3. Agreed, it is early! They sent the email around noon today, and I was shocked because I wasn't expecting a decision until late March.
  4. I hope they let us know today! GW is the last program I'm waiting to hear from. I was accepted to UIC, and they gave a deadline of March 16 to accept/decline. I would at least like to have next week to figure things out and make a firm decision. By the way, how'd your interview with GW go? Compared to my other interviews, the vibe was a little off with this one. I don't think it was a bad interview, but I don't feel like I connected in the same way as I did with other interviewers. Of course, it could've been all in my head, and it was a rough day at work.
  5. @DrPH Hopeful I interviewed last week and received official acceptance yesterday via email. However, they still haven't updated the portal to reflect that. Fingers crossed that you hear good news soon!!!
  6. I called GW not too long ago, and the answer I got was soon. That's it......just soon. No intel whatsoever. So I hope that means tomorrow. But during the interview, they said no later than the 2nd week of March.
  7. Of course! Feel free to reach out if you have any more questions.
  8. The website used to complete the supplemental app. https://applygrad.uic.edu/account/login?r=https%3a%2f%2fapplygrad.uic.edu%2fapply%2fstatus
  9. No problem at all! I requested the waiver before applying to the program. I sent it to the program director of the leadership concentration, and then he forwarded the letter to the director of the college of graduate studies. Once I heard the waiver was approved, I officially submitted my app in SOPHAS. They followed up with an interview a few days later. I don't recall paying a supplemental fee
  10. Darn. Mines finally updated and I didn't make the cut. Congrats to everyone else who did!!! I'm so excited for all of you!
  11. @jace_PH Congrats!!! Did they send an email or did you just randomly check the portal? Mines hasn't updated yet, grated I applied to the health policy track.
  12. @Inf_emgPH I was accepted to Georgia Southern's DrPH Program. They gave me a GRE waiver for my public health experience and not necessarily my academic background. I have a Masters in Social Work, but all of my work experience is/was in public health. I had to formally request the waiver through a letter to the admissions board. I haven't heard anything about whether I need to take any of the core MPH courses. But I imagine, if I commit to the program, my academic advisor will flag any prerequisites I need to take.
  13. I think it went well, though you never know. I spoke with the director and academic coordinator, who were both friendly. The asked me to talk about my public health experience, my current job, why USF, and what I was hoping to gain from a DrPH. They are still interviewing folks, so don’t lose hope! They sent the request a day before my actual interview, which means anything could happen this week. They plan to wrap-up by the end of the first week of March and send decisions out the 2nd week of March. They are selecting 16-17 applicants for the leadership concentration and 3-4 applicants for the clinical lab concentration.
  14. USF reached out this morning to schedule an interview for.......tomorrow. Yikes! Not sure if all interviews are tomorrow, but they sent 8 time slots and asked me to select my top 3.
  15. Just got confirmation from USF that the interview is the last step if you are being considered for admission. She couldn't confirm whether they were finished with the interview process though, which means there's still hope if you haven't heard anything yet.
  16. I emailed USF this morning. They said decisions for the DrPH program are going to be released towards the beginning of March. I haven't been able to get a clear answer on their interview policy and whether not receiving an interview request is indicative of a rejection. The wait is killing me also. I'm just ready to know either way. Congrats on your acceptances. I didn't apply to Berkeley nor UGA, but I saw on the results page a few acceptances for Berkeley around the end of January and an interview with UGA on Feb. 11 (not sure if this was you).
  17. So I just had my interview with GW HPM. I'm not sure how I feel about it yet, nor did I get a good sense of how they feel about me. But I wanted to report back that they plan to wrap up interviews early next week and send out decisions within the first two weeks of March. They will select 20 doctoral students across all departments, with 6 of those students in the HPM department.
  18. Thanks for checking @ParttimeHopeful! I called JHU to see if something was wrong, and they said everything was normal on their end. I guess it's just a glitch. The Admission Rep also said that decisions for the DrPH program would come out late February or early March, so we may find out sooner than expected! I also just received an interview request from UIC, so all of you UIC applicants keep a look out. Hang in there everyone. We're almost to the finish line.
  19. Welcome @ParttimeHopeful and good luck! Anyone else having trouble with the JHU portal today? I checked mine and the "checklist for application" section is missing as well as any references to the DrPH program. My name still shows up though.
  20. Just got an interview request from GW HPM. I am beyond excited!
  21. Well, I called GW to fish for info on interviews but the admissions rep wasn't very helpful. Was trying to get a sense of when interviews would be offered and if not being offered an interview is a sign that you will get a rejection. She said they just started the process for offering interviews, and an interview is not guaranteed, which kind of answered my question, but not really. Sighs...... the wait continues. Congrats @BM_DrPH on your acceptances and good luck on the interview with Colorado! Please keep us posted on how everything goes.
  22. @liz2019drph Nothing yet from JHU. Yeah, I assume the PhD program requires interviews because of funding and the need to ensure the right faculty/departmental fit with the limited funds/slots they have. Whereas DrPH applicants are part-time and usually fund the degree externally. For us, they want competitive DrPH applicants period (without the emphasis on faculty/departmental fit). I assume they can determine this (most of the time) just by reviewing the apps. But during the webinar, they said that interviews for DrPH applicants are conducted on an ad hoc basis. Quite a few folks from last year were accepted without an interview. @RubyTue I understand. Part of me would love to attend a program full-time and in-person, but the struggle of being a broke student is still fresh for me. But if it's your dream, go for it! While money is nice to have, it isn't everything. Plus, it sounds like they have a cool project lined up for you that would make the experience that much more worthwhile.
  23. Thanks for the info @HealthPolicyMgmtPhD! It looks like HPM is moving a little faster than JHU's other departments. They've already sent out quite a few decisions for PhD applicants. I hope this means HPM DrPH applicants will hear back soon as well. Fingers crossed that you hear good news on both of your apps! Welcome @AlphacentauriC Don't feel bad about choosing the 100 K+ job over a doctoral degree, especially since the return on investment with a doctoral degree isn't that great. I think you made the right choice. Once you graduate and start looking for work, employers will, at a minimum, match your current salary. Whereas other PhDs are low-balled because of their lack of work experience. Congrats @RubyTue . Like my mother-in-law always says, “ you have nothing to lose by throwing your hat in the ring.” Plus, we’re so hard on ourselves. We don’t always see the greatness that others see in us. Also, if I’m not mistaken, JHU PhDs are always offered full funding, so you should be good on that front. I know you’ll knock the interview out of the park. They appreciate authenticity so “plain old, honest, you” is the best way to go!
  24. Welcome @HospExecDrPH! I heard from Georgia Southern in late-December (they admit on a rolling basis). Still waiting to hear from USF, GW, JHU, and UIC. The wait has been excruciating, but I'm working hard to keep myself distracted. Good luck, I hope you hear good news from both JHU and Harvard! Congrats on the interview @HealthPolicyMgmtPhD! I also applied to JHU's Health Policy track. Do you mind sharing any intel you gained? Like what type of questions they asked? Was it a panel interview or just one person?
  25. Happy New Year! I agree the wait is agonizing. I wish we were on the same timeline as the PhD applicants. For better or worse, most of them get decisions or interview requests in January. Thanks for the update on USF. I was hoping since their deadline was the earliest, that we would hear back sooner. Oh well, here’s to the new year. I hope folks start to hear good news soon!
