  1. Thanks @Ashdacat. I think it went well! I found out that they admit on a rolling basis and the interview is a standard part of their process. I spoke with the dean and about six faculty members. They seemed friendly and asked standard questions. Tell us about yourself, why a DrPH, why this program, leadership style, goals, etc. I asked a few program specific questions and that was it. About 30 minutes later I received an email that said a proposed decision had been forwarded to the College of Graduate Studies. They said I should hear back no later than January.
  2. Well I spoke too soon! I have an interview with Georgia Southern on Thursday. Wish me luck!
  3. @Ashdacat Congrats on getting your app in! I have a slight grudge against USF for having an earlier deadline than most other programs. But I'm over it now, ha. Did they say interviews were a standard part of their process? In the 2019 forum someone was accepted on Jan 8, I think without an interview. Any other useful info from the info meeting? I missed it, unfortunately. I hope you had a great Thanksgiving! Mine was peaceful. I think it's safe for us to rest our nerves a bit until the new year. That's when all the craziness begins!
  4. Ditto, my scores were…meh, which sucks because I invested a lot of time and money in studying. Was also shocked that I scored better on verbal than math (math is my strong suit....or so I thought). I applied to five programs, but only two required the GRE. I hope other aspects of my application shine through since programs say they review apps “holistically”. I also agree that in an ideal world I would pursue a Ph.D., but I can't fathom giving up my current income. Sorry in advance if I offend anyone, but I refuse to be a starving student again. Those were rough times! And …..Clears throat as I step on my soapbox….I wish schools would get rid of the GRE requirement altogether. It has been proven over and over again to be useless at predicting readiness for grad school. It only shows how well you are at taking the GRE, not how well you may be as a grad student. And, besides the vocab words, none of the material I had to "re-learn", will be useful during my studies or my work in the field. Yet, we, the students, have to waste time and resources to check off a box. I applaud the schools that have already dropped the GRE requirement, realizing that it is nothing more than a barrier and burden on students who want to further their education. For the programs that still require the GRE and pride themselves on evidence-based practice, shame on you……. Steps off of my soapbox. Any-who, good luck folks! So glad we have this forum to share our experiences during this stressful time. My anxiousness has finally set-in, so I combed through old DrPH forums to get a sense of when I might hear back from my programs. Posting here just in case it's helpful for others. USF - decisions vary from early-January to mid-March; not sure about interviews GW - decisions early-March; not sure about interviews JHU - interview (if necessary) late-January; decisions mid-March UIC - decisions late-March; not sure about interviews. Georgia Southern - decisions early April; not sure about interviews.
  5. @AshdacatI plan to submit my app to USF today. Good luck! I want to submit everything else by the end of next week so I can at least have a a few weeks of peace before the anxiety creeps in.
  6. Hi everyone! I'm applying to USF (Advanced Practice Leadership in Public Health), GW (Health Behavior), UIC, and JHU (Health Equity and Social Justice). I'm working to get my app in for USF since it's due on Nov 15. RE the personal statement, the best advice I got was to be authentic and write from the heart. That's what I did, so hopefully it works out. Good luck!
  7. I'm an advanced standing student at Columbia. I would send the practicum evaluation to whoever can elaborate more on your skills in field. I sent mine to my field supervisor because we worked more closely together than my field instructor.
  8. So........I went to a admitted students info session today and I really enjoyed it. The faculty was really nice and down to earth. The current students were also very helpful. I didn't know what to expect since I heard mixed reviews about the program but I must admit, I’m in love. I also like that we can take up to 19.5 credits hrs. at a flat rate. So if I wanted to take extra classes from other departments I can. Definitely using this opportunity to work on my Spanish which is becoming a must in our field! I didn't get the uppity air that some people have felt. But I guess everybody’s experience is different.
  9. I'm in! Got the email about two hours ago. Glad to finally know something. They're only giving us to March 30th to decide though.
  10. Hey @amers, I'll see you there! I paid my deposit about 2 weeks ago.I will be visiting Denver next week to find housing, visit the campus and interview field placements. I'm so excited !!
  11. The "complete/ready for review" disappeared once they made a decision. You should call and ask. I did and at the moment a decision wasn't made but they told me how long it would take. Good luck and hope to see you at DU!
  12. Hey guys. I was accepted to DU for the advanced standing program via accept/decline buttons on Jan 13th. Received the letter about a week afterwards. Really excited because DU is my top choice. Will be taking a road trip up to Denver at the end of February to visit the campus and look for housing. If anyone has advice or tips for moving to Denver please shoot me a message. I'm coming from Alabama so any help would be appreciated ! Good luck everyone !!
  13. I just checked mine for DU an hour ago and" ready to review" disappeared and the accept/decline buttons appeared. It still says decision not available though. From what I have read on other forums, the accept/decline buttons are usually accurate at predicting an acceptance. However, nobody really knows, so try not to stress (although I know how hard that can be) Good Luck
