I feel like they're going to look at my GPA and say: "The mediocrity is making my head hurt." And look at my SOP and say: "This is almost too sad to laugh at..."

I totally know how you feel. I've been with my SO for 3.5 years and he's already been offered a job in Dallas after graduation. All the schools I applied to are out of state. We're too young to talk about marriage and stuff (we're only 21) but I still don't like the thought of having to choose.

It's the latter. The website says graduate assistants perform editorial or administrative duties in support of the English Department and its publications and programs, or assist in faculty research. So I guess I'm stuck on goals for an assistantship (besides funding). Thanks!

Uugghh I totally empathize. About the "what are my chances?" and brown nosing and people asking about if I got accepted yet. Everything. I've been on edge lately, and I'm a very type B person. Today I lost it with my mom. Over pizza. Granted she was being a harpy, but she's always a harpy; I just usually let it wash over me.

Ok, so I need to write a separate SOP for my assistantship application. They want me to "outline [my] qualifications and goals for an assistantship." Pardon my ignorance, but this sounds very similar for the SOP I wrote for admission to the program. What should I write to make it sound different? Again, sorry if I sound stupid.

I am an undergrad student at the University of North Texas and I am interested in graduate programs for publishing. Does anyone have any good ones they know of (personally or otherwise)? I have a few schools in mind: NYU, Boston University and Emerson, but if you know of any more I would really appreciate it!
