I honestly had an amazing interview (though short) they didn’t ask too much and I just felt great talking about my work. I also feel like I would really fit into the program I loved the atmosphere, and the laid back aspect really relaxed me during open studios .. I was kinda freaking out before hand!!! Idk about funding.. I just found out I got free tuition and a 30,000/year stipend award for university of Delaware it’s insane.....  too many options now.. though hunter seems to be n 1... I was told that half or a quarter of interviewers get in so that’s a little scary

at at the same time I’m very self driven, the studio space at hunter is beautiful! And working with such great faculty who are actually working artists is great.  We are artist,  most of the teaching we do it ourselves you know?

I did smell weed in some studios and vomit in the girls bathroom open studio night but it’s kinda hilarious ? definitely my fit .. it’s important to have fun

30K stipend from Delaware Wow! God I wish I applied there!

Had interview for FSU last night  with Mark. Very nice guy. Spoke highly of my work(was surprised to hear a solid compliment in an interview), very casual convo. Similar backgrounds. Good vibes/positive thoughts. Hope it went well for you! Said should hear by Mon or Tues this week.  ?

Hey I am 6th on FSU's waitlist any luck on your end?

oh man I'm so sorry @icw

TO HUNTER APPLICANTS>>> I have received an email back from Sarah, she said to bring the ten images submitted, plus up to ten images of new work.  So like 20 images maximum... It's a pretty cool thing!  Good luck to everyone and see you in open studio! Can other painting interviewers give me your instagram or website? I would love to check out your works!

It's okay, I am not super bummed or anything. Rejection is a part of life. And if for some reason. If stuff just does not work out this year. I am just going to have move on and pursue other things.

I just had my Skype interview with Alfred and it was the most nerve racking thing ever. I am legit shaking and I just hope I didn't come across as nervous as I actually was. Aaaannnnnnnnnd now I have to wait another 2 weeks.

But on another note, I got an acceptance email from University at Buffalo this morning! No word on funding yet, though!

Nice job on buffalo super dope program!

Hey! I applied to UF too! are you a painter ? Right it seems silly... also I've been talking to students at LSU and faculty and they are very excited to have me and are soo nice.  It seems like a great environment be in.

Yeah! I am a painter I applied to a bunch of Florida schools after I found out how much money they offer their students. I am pretty excited about USF right now. It seems like an awesome program. LSU is  a great school. And Baton Rouge seems pretty cool. I thought about applying there this year.

So what do you guys think between going to a school that’s free plus stipend with assistanships but three years, compared to going to a two year college that you have to pay for but maybe more prestigious? Say hunter, temple or pafa, vs LSU, UDel, or UF ?

I would not take out loans to pursue an MFA is my advice or try not to. It can be a financial nightmare. If you do make sure you have a plan. Because nothing is guaranteed. I know a lot of people who went to more "prestigious" school and hate that they had to take out loans. Esp. grad loans that have  6.8 interest on them. And I think there are a lot of great public/ private programs that are free and the alumni are usually just as successful as others. I am not saying don't do it if you want to but there is a difference between having like 80,000+ over your head after graduation vs. not having any debt from grad school.

Who knows when will decisions from the following schools will be posted: Rutgers, CUNY Hunter, Temple, PAFA, University of Delaware, UF, LSU ??

I know that temple has sent out interview requests, but will they send more? Also how much does it have to do with how late your recommenders send their letters? Will they tell you if they reject you? Or you just have to wait till like march to hear back? .... #anxiousAF .

UF should be early march i think that is what it said on their website

I wouldn't lose hope yet, I know for sure some are still reviewing applications. There is no rule and some take longer to notify you re-interview or acceptance, I'm nervous waiting for the others but it's good to remain positive!

good point! It is best not to be too fatalistic in this process.

I applied to USF. I received a voicemail this morning (PST), saying that decisions would be made this Friday, and applicants will be notified "very shortly" after that. I had not contacted the school since applying. My app was weak, and I do not expect to get in.

God! Thanks for letting me know. I have not heard any thing. My rule is if you do not hear back after two weeks or three weeks. They are not interested. Thanks for the heads up. And Good luck. What area did you apply to? Would you like to share your work?

Hey guys! I finished applying to my school and I'm thinking of applying to another. Last year I applied for 10 and was rejected from all of them. This year my professors really helped me out with my statement (They said it was pretty awful) and said it was the reason I didn't get in. They said it WAS the reason. Like it was so bad they really didn't have to guess why I wasn't admitted lol. So this year I applied to four MFA Visual Art programs:

    Rutgers

    Tulane

    Georgia State

    University of Florida.

I'm nervous as hell. I didn't really hammer my statement out for Rutgers like I did the others (Research, paragraph structure, content). Plus I didn't warn my professors in time for it and there letters didn't have time to reach. I'm confident I wasn't accepted. The latter three I spent days diving into their program and my paper. I think I have a good shot. Should I apply for more? Is my work good enough? Doubts are everywhere? Also, if you want to comment on each others work or my own my website is https://www.thejonathanadams.com/ .

I applied to Tulane last year. Very competitive. I almost reapplied this Year. I also Applied to University of Florida! Good luck. Do not give up. I have applied for the past two years to schools and was only accepted at Portland State-great program. but the funding was not enough for me to attend.  Apply to more if you feel like its a good idea. If it makes you feel any better. I just found out my teacher did not submit a recommendation that was due on the 15th to University of South Florida. pretty disappointed. I really wanted to have chance there. But I probably did not get in sadly. Some apps are better than others I suppose. My FSU app is strong but so is mY UF App. It is a learning process.
