I probably won't be able to. I work full time. I do need to get up there to start looking for somewhere to live, though and to take an "official" campus tour and visit the department. I will definitely be accepting my offer, though. I'll PM you with my email and stuff! -
Accepted into UVA off of the wait list in IR!!!!!! Unofficial email from the DGS last night.
I'd been in contact with the department and they said they had more than one IR spot to fill, so don't lose hope. - fakeusername, NYCBluenose, Bubandis and 5 others

Well, it was pretty generic, though I suspect that it probably wasn't sent to many (based on the info I have pertaining to UVA's admission process--pm me if you're curious). I hope that you hear something positive soon!
I know they're only taking 10 people, so my hopes aren't exactly sky high, but I can always dream. I live in Virginia and they rejected me as an undergrad so I was dying to go there for grad. But who knows.

This made my entire day. R is my favorite thing to hate. And beer is just my favorite thing while I sit and twiddle my thumbs over UVA and their long as hell decision process. Also, don't let the internet trollolols get you down!

Heard from them at all recently?
No. I have a friend in the program who said that they will be releasing decisions, most likely, in the next two weeks. But with all of the snow, I'm not holding my breath on that timetable. Other people have said that the decisions are rolling until 4/15, and the last time I was in contact with the department (about 1 month ago) that was the news I got as well. So, here's to hoping!

Pittsburgh did not e-mail me.. Does that mean a silent rejection?
I have a friend in the program who told me that all remaining decisions would go out mid-March (he went to the office and asked today). I'm IR subfield, though. So, not sure the subfields of the announcements already put up.

Yes. But it will be a series of emails from unimportant sources. Like "Notice! You're overdue on your power bill!"

Today seems uncharacteristically quiet. Too quiet.
I hope the poster on the previous page was right that Yale will release tomorrow.
It has been quiet. But the east coast is basically shutting down from weather so I'm sure that's a major factor.

I've not heard anything via email and no update on the website. From the results page it looks like they can be rather slow to inform people if they're waitlisted or rejected..

Saw two rejections / one acceptance from UVA, but I've Still got no word. Can anyone claim them? Also - when did the rejection emails arrive and what subfields are you guys? I'm on the edge of my seatttttttt. I would love to stay in-state since I'm close with my family... [insert wine here]

I doubt H or Y will release today (I think Y will be next week and H the week after), so I guess that I have another restless and whisky filled weekend ahead of me. This process is turning me into an alcoholic.

Virginia extended offers to those up for a fellowship. That's only 5 or 6. That's all I can speak to w/ certainty. I'm guessing more will follow very soon??? Contact has been through DGS and theorists in the Dept. No status updates on the website though. My letter came via DGS.
Hope so, the email I got back a while ago was very generic. I know they only have space for 10 students, unless something has changed.

They sent out a couple of offers on Feb 5th to people that the department was also nominating for outside fellowships. Most offers, however, will be forthcoming--by the end of the month, I believe.
Did your portal announcement change or was it only the email? Thanks and congrats!!

There should be a place, besides my bed, where people who are having a PhD-driven existential crisis PRIOR to even entering the program could hide and cower in uncertainty and self-doubt. Life would be marginally easier.
