  1. How do people even GET scholarships though? I've seen nothing from NJ schools I applied to
  2. Right! Maybe it's some strange, very unusual occurrence.
  3. Do people ever actually get aid packages from schools? I'm seeing some posts about schools offering scholarships and whatnot and I'm sitting here like, "whaaa?" I was under the impression the only type of aid you might get for an SLP Master's program is if you secure a GA or TA position
  4. Well that's alarming. Their deadline was super late- February 15th. I guess we'll see!
  5. Kean University. Looks like many people heard mid-April last year, but I've also read some not till super late. I just want to know all my results so I can make an informed choice! haha
  6. Fall! It's a school that's (evidently) notorious for reaaaaally late acceptances. But by then, you've likely heard from your other schools and they'll want a decision.
  7. Yup, they evidently want deposits early April if you get in!
  8. RIGHT? I feel the same way. Mid March vs May are very, VERY different. It would make more sense for all schools, at least within a certain geographic area, to have a ballpark time frame in which they send out acceptances. My fear is that I'll end up wasting money on a deposit only to go somewhere else!
  9. All interesting answers. Yeah, I would be afraid of waiting too long.... The thing is, I searched this forum, and it looks like last year, people who got into the school I'm referring to were asked to send in their deposit by about April 4th. It's just so strange to me that they can ask that, when other schools in the area don't typically send letters until MID April, or up until May. It's like, how the heck can I say yes to you guys and give you my money when I don't know who else might want me? And honestly, it comes down to money for me, so even IF I got in all my schools, I want to go for the most economical option. I guess then, I'll call the school (if I get in) and ask if it's okay to wait until a certain date to send a deposit..
  10. How much do deposits tend to be? That's my concern. I'm fully willing to basically tell them, "Sorry, not coming." I'm the one who's about to pay a school ridiculous amounts of money. My concern is that deposits tend to be non-refundable. What do they average?
  11. Quick question for everyone as I wait to hear from schools. What do you do if you get in somewhere, and they want a deposit, but you haven't even heard from other schools? It occurred to me today that one school I applied to seems to accept people around mid-March, and wants a deposit early April. However, school #2 doesn't send letters until mid-April. And school # 3 not until May! Let's say I get accepted to the first mentioned school, and they want a deposit by early April. How do you deal with/get around that if you haven't even heard from other schools?? Thanks! Kate
  12. Hi all, I'm looking to take Intro to Comm Disorders and Neuro at Longwood University this upcoming summer. Has anyone had experience with Longwood's SLP prerequisites online, or taken them during the summer? I've got a potential 2ish week (no longer) trip planned and am wondering if Longwood allows you to work ahead/around to accomodate. Thanks!
  13. Oh really? Interesting. I'd need that prof and the neuro prof to do that for me...
  14. Darn. I'm hoping for something more like...at least 12 weeks. So they're not SO intense, and so I have a chance of doing a vacation. I managed a 9 day trip while doing online courses at Utah last summer by working ahead but I imagine that's just a nuts idea in an 8 week course
  15. Weird, it totally wasn't on their website! I'll email them for more info. Do you know if it was a regular 16 week course?
  16. Somehow I'm not seeing an Intro to Comm Disorders class? I see "Developmental Language Disorders" but not Intro
  17. I was planning on taking 2. I'd honestly much rather a typical 12 or 16 week course but I can't seem to find Intro to Comm Disorders as well as Neuro at the same school.
  18. Jeez, that's intense!!! I wonder if there's anywhere else to take these that isn't so intense/only 8 weeks
  19. Do you both think they are manageable if I work full-time? I was also looking at a two-ish week vacation this summer, which simply won't be possible if I take these courses, it seems....
  20. Hello all, I'm looking into taking two courses at ENMU this summer. I see they are short courses, approximately 8 weeks long. Has anyone taken CDIS courses through ENMU during the summer, and can you testify as to the difficulty level of the classes given how short they are? Thanks, Kate
  21. Could you tell me which course would cover the Intro course?
  22. What is the course that covers Intro to Speech/Language/Hearing? I'm not seeing it..
  23. Thanks for the info! The only thing is, though, I'm really hoping to take them at the same place. Does anyone else know a school at which both can be taken?
