  1. Hi everyone! I've been less active on the forum for a while because of campus visits but wanted to drop few words about the applications. It is my second cycle and I am admitted into some great programs this year. I will be making my final decision probably around late March and early April. For those who have been waitlisted, I've already rejected my George Washington offer and will be rejecting three or four more in the following days. I am thinking of sharing my experience later on the forum for the upcoming cycles and applicants, but in the meantime if anyone thinks that I can give some relevant information you can freely PM me. I may not be able to follow the threads very carefully.
  2. +1 Harvard rejection. After seeing the acceptances last week, I am not surprised at all. I didn't enter to the survey but I was informally interviewed (or rather say asked my top school) in early January. I had been in contact with my POI for a very long time. I am writing this to remind once more that don't believe anything until you see the official letter, which I think is one of the most repeated and wisest messages I've encountered in this forum so far.
  3. If Harvard admits are here, can you tell more about the method of notification?
  4. I tried not to count it as a possibility but a fair point though! Actually my POI early in January sent me an email and told nice things about my application and promised to be in touch in the following weeks. I didn't want to bother him after our correspondences but I still think that he would write me back even I am not extended an offer.
  5. Anyone heard from Harvard History? I was expecting to hear something on Friday given the last year's entries but didn't see any posts in the survey or elsewhere.
  6. Hey! I am also one of the UVA admits. It is my second application cycle. Last year I've been interviewed by three schools but wasn't that lucky. My concentration -in broadest terms- is the 19th century global history with an emphasis on the political-economic questions in the history of capitalism. I am not an Americanist, but my research has a potential to explore some historical connections among the North America, Britain, and the Middle East.
  7. Congrats to you too! Mine is Middle East, or more particular 19th c. Ottoman economic and political history. What's yours?
  8. Hey @Frontline! Today I received an email from Princeton/NES, hope you also heard or will hear soon the invitation. If you want to further communicate please feel free to send me a PM. Good luck and best wishes!
  9. I guess so, they haven't. Or, what I understand is the shortlisted candidates are going to be contacted by their POIs or other faculty members individually. And the deadline for that is Feb. 7. If it is the case, there may be some applicants who received emails from their POIs. Not sure, but this application season made me expert on speculation! Thanks for the wish, same is here!
  10. Hi @Frontline! I saw your post on the results thread. I applied to Princeton/NES and I guess they were supposed to release the interviews compared to the previous years. Yesterday, I wrote to the administrative director, Mr. LaRegina, he told that I/we should wait until Tuesday (Feb. 7). I think if nothing appears until then, it means highly a rejection, or waitlist. I am not sure. Cheers!
  11. @telkanuru thanks for the information! Do you know or guess how long it typically takes for the grad school to approve?
  12. Hey guys! Few hours ago I had a short conversation (over phone) with my POI at Stanford about my application. It was more about my proposal and methodological issues. General tone was encouraging and supportive but he did not mean that the department finalized its decisions and the call does not imply anything for sure. My impression is that probably all sub-fields are very close to decide on the names to be sent to the admission committee, or something like that. It seems they are going to release the decisions in two or three weeks at most, which is consistent with the previous years.
  13. For those who applied to PhD at Michigan State, I received an email regarding my rejection and posted the result. It is a standard email attached the rejection letter. Though it was a poor matching, it is sad to begin the application season with a rejection :/ Congrats to admitted ones!
  14. I was almost convincing myself not to refresh the results page every minute, until I saw the recent entries and posts.
  15. Hey I wish you luck in your interviews @ziggysunshine and @voprosi ! I applied both to NYU and Columbia, but didn't receive any formal or informal news from the departments. Btw, what are your sub-fields?
