SLC is a great city to live in. Gorgeous mountains with a so many outdoorsy opportunities if you like hiking, camping, skiing, biking, photography, etc. Plus the cost of living is relatively low, it's a safe city, and I could probably go on and on about why it's great ha but anyway I'll stop. I'm excited to meet everyone. Yes please start a facebook group! I would but my current job doesn't know I'm planning on going to grad school yet and I have work friends and if I started a group I think it might show up in my news feed.... and I need to work at the job all summer to save up so I really don't want my boss finding out yet ha.

Yes, I agree. Five years is plenty of time! You would just need to switch your drivers license. Good to double check with the school because the out of state tuition is really expensive... honestly even the in state tuition feels expensive at any grad school to me ha. Although the hubs is just finishing up grad school this spring and we already have his loans so more on top of it isn't ideal but I know once we are both into our careers we will pay it off quickly. Hopefully he gets a good enough job that we don't have to take out any loans for me but we'll see how everything turns out.

Good luck, I hope your number one offers you a spot! I think it's a great sign. I would absolutely reply and say that it was your top choice and you are eagerly waiting to hear their decision before you move forward with any other school. -

I'm happy the waiting is over and I am excited to attend the University of Utah, which is a much better fit for me anyway. Good luck to everyone who is waitlisted and really wanting to attend. -

I made my final decision and notified NAU that I have to decline their offer because I have accepted elsewhere. Thought I would post here because I know if I was on the waitlist I would love to hear that people were declining ha. Anyway good luck with grad school everyone! -

I called Western Washington today and she said the first round of acceptances already went out (which we knew) and said that they waited after sending those out to see how many accepted and then they are hoping to send out the waitlist/any other acceptances soon. -

That's great! I love that I'm finally getting in touch w a few people who are planning or at least considering going to the U. Should we start a facebook group?
-
I would love to be friends, especially if you end up going to the U! My husband and I love the PNW but it looks like it's just not meant to be as far as grad school... I mean I still haven't heard from Western Washington but everything is working out so well for us to stay in Utah that I don't think it matters what they tell me ha. (Okay if they offered me a full tuition scholarship or something then sure but the chances of that are basically nonexistent). The U has such an amazing program and my husband thinks he has a really good internship lined up with a law firm in SLC so we will happily stay in Utah for at least two more years.

It seems like some schools have more people post their results than others... for example BYU only had 5 people post their results this year. I've also noticed some schools coming up a lot more in forum topics and I'm not sure why. More popular area to live? I'm not sure. I wish they would just send our emails. I guess the beginning of "next" week would be either today or tomorrow, and nothing today so I'm hoping for tomorrow! I just want to know. -

I know everyone's under a lot of stress right now... but some of the posts make me feel like I'm listening in on a private argument. Maybe when feelings are hurt or there's confrontation send each other private messages instead?

Thank you! There are so many great people on these forums that I can't wait until we all actually get into our programs and can meet and get to know each other. What's your top choice so far for where you want to go? -

I got accepted... but I didn't do my undergrad there. If you did your undergrad there I think schools have some kind of incentive to want to have more diversity in their program. I didn't get accepted to BYU which is where I did my undergrad. Also I'm out of state, and I'm not sure how Arizona is doing as far as money but if they don't have a lot to give to schools it makes sense that schools want out of state applicants so they can charge out of state tuition. What I'm trying to say is that it might not be anything with your essay. My GPA wasn't very high, but I rocked the GRE and I think that really helped me. Maybe take the GRE again? I also worked in schools with diverse kids for a year after graduating which really helped me know why I wanted to be an SLP and gave me some unique insight into my letter. I'm not sure if any of that helped but good luck! Maybe apply to a bunch of schools next year if you only applied to one this year... I haven't seen anyone who wasn't rejected by at least one school so applying to a lot really increases your chances. Good luck! -

Maybe we could call and ask... I would rather just know now instead of waiting for a letter. I'm not planning on going there anyway even on the slight chance I did get accepted... but it would be nice to finally know the result of all my applications. Then I could maybe stop checking this website so often haha. But seriously, what do you think? If we called would they tell us? -
Hi everyone! I haven't seen very many posts on here about people who applied to the University of Utah, however I did (and fortunately got accepted!!!! still regularly rereading the acceptance letter to make sure it's real) and I would love to connect with anyone else who is planning on attending. It seems like starting a facebook group is the thing to do ha so if there are any of you please post and we can get a group going!
