unfortunately U of T didn't offer me any money at that time not even my 180 dollar application fee..... lol

For one year program, about 80 percent of my peers had at least two years of work experience. For one year part-time program, 100 percent of them worked full time while attending the school ( you don't get the funding package if you are in the part-time program ). 

Awesome! It's also great practice for if and when you get into the program, they really expect conciseness and don't mark content that's over the limit!

The graduate office will call you to confirm!! Ryerson sends out offers from mid of March until the end of April... but that was in 2014 when I applied. Things may have been changed since.

The order goes by  rejection letter- first round acceptance letter- second round acceptance letter- waitlist letter
How do I know this? social work is a small field and you will  find friends in every sector, including school admission office

U of t will start sending out all rejection letters next week, hope none of you will receive it!

The first round acceptance should be on Feb 10th to 12th depending on the volume of this year's applications. You will receive an  email from the admission office if you are accepted or on the wait list.. the second wave of acceptance is between April and June after some students declined their offers, in such case, the school will call you and let you know that you are off from the wait list.  Good Luck!!

Don't worry about it. U of T sucks at updating their system--they're just really slow. I.e. when I applied my thing said it was under review well over a month after I had already gotten in! As long as it says documents are received I wouldn't worry about it.

Hi, this thread is for people who have applied to MSW programs (master of social work) in Canada. I'm not sure if we can be of any help. But, maybe you could contact the departments you applied to? You can ask about when they are sending out acceptances/rejections, or check the results for your particular program on this website http://www.thegradcafe.com/survey/

yeah that makes sense. I'm not at U of T actually, so that's probably why I had to send in another transcript. I'm assuming they just have access to yours, as you are already there
also I ended up dropping a few courses and taking new ones instead, so they probably wanted to see my transcript for these reasons as well.

Based on last year for UofT, advanced standing usually goes out early to mid February, and 2 year MSW start rolling out the second week of March (this year's equivalent would be March 6th because last year it was March 7th) and they go out in waves.

In regards to working with/inside of a specific community while being an outsider, I can let you know a bit about my experience. I am a woman of colour as well, and have been working and living in (because it is a fly-in only community) a First Nations reserve. Children are very blunt, and when myself and my colleagues first arrived they were very open about feeling that we were only there for the money and just wanted the experience on our resume. I am sure many adults felt this way as well, but were polite about it. What helped tremendously was getting involved in the community and forming friendships with them outside of my job. We joined their volleyball teams, helped volunteering and fundraising, hosted potlucks. It was also very telling that, when offered another contract to work here despite all the hardships, I chose to come back (boil water advisory, lack of access to nutritious foods, expensive to fly in and out for holidays/breaks, aside from all the social issues in this community). 
I think what has helped me most working here was being very honest with the community about my intentions and who I am as a person. Not misleading them about my intentions because that will lead to letting them down (e.g. saying you'll come back for a second year but then do not). I've been very open with letting my friends and employers know about my intention to achieve an MSW, but that I hope we continue our strong friendships. The best advice I could give would be to put your heart into the community you work with, do not go in there as just a researcher, but go in as an individual willing to share your time, experiences, and passion with them.

I just finished the 2015 forum, lol. My anxiety is right there with you. I keep going from extreme highs of "I'm such a good candidate" to extreme lows of "how can I compete with these people." I will say though that the 2015 forum definitely had a lot of great info and discussions about the universities should anyone be interested
