  1. Well i applied for the Master's study scholarship as that is the only thing I am really interested in and did not get it. This is only available once a year so I can only apply for one for the fall of 2016 which is depressingly far away.

  2. I dont mind living cheap. My only worry is whether I'll be able to find a job at all since my German knowledge is limited to what I have been able to teach myself with Rosetta Stone for the past 6 months.

  3. Does anyone here know how feasible it is to attend a Masters in Germany and finance it with any sort of part time student job. Is it doable to find a job quickly enough once I arrive there to pay for living expenses while I study? Maybe somebody in this forum has done the same thing?

Thanks in advance for any feedback

  4. maybe they are just going to send out the notifications in 'early april' as the range they seem to have given us does include those dates...

  5. Jdawg: yes I will let you know if i get in to Hamburg. I appliedto the MSc in Economics so I guess not the same program you are in . Yes St Gallen is beautiful, I was there about 3 weeks ago when I visited my GF.

  6. Yeah although idk how hard it is to find a job as a student there...specially since my German is rather basic(essentially all i know i have taught myself with rosetta stone over the past 5 months). I have applied to University of Hamburg, Mannheim, Freiburg and LMU. I will go to wherever i get in, but if i could pick, I would go to LMU. It is a great school and also Munich is the closest to where my GF lives in St.Gallen, Switzerland.

  7. Oh so nice. I also have a significant other over in Europe. My GF is Swiss and is part of the reason why I am trying to go to grad school there  since its one of the only ways for me to be in Europe for more than just 3 months at a time. Long distance is rought :(

  8. Nice. How did you fund your first semester if you dont mind me asking? I am wondering of other ways to fund my MA in Germany, in case DAAD doesn't work out.

  9. LOL, dat desperation. I dont think it means anything as my portal says it will be under maintenance Monday. So they are probably doing maintenance on their servers but not all of them at the same time. So yours is probably under maintenance now. THas probably what that is.

  10. Indeed it would:

If I get the scholarship -drink (in order to celebrate the accomplishment)
If I don't get the scholarship-drink(in order to drown my sorrows)

Guess its not going to affect my plans so much after all....LOL

  11. I currently have a  temporary job. I get 3 month long assignments and at the end of each 3 months i get extended if they like my work and if they still need me so that works fine with the whole uncertainty of the DAAD. Since I just got a contract renovated until June 30th it works out well with this whole situation since I think most schools start later than that anyways.
