  1. Oh! and I was accepted to both programs, lol...
  2. I went to interviews for masters programs wearing jeans.. We're geologist...
  3. I'm going crazy here waiting to hear back from 2 schools on whether I've been accepted and 1 school on whether I'll be funded!
  4. I'm waiting to hear back from the University of Alberta. Stressful. The website says that I'm missing a ton of things.. statement, resume, LORs but I know this isn't the case. Damn geoscience departments are too laid back. I want my results! lol
  5. Thanks! I have a few office mates who applied to a few of the programs you applied to! Good luck!
  6. Hola, any paleo people in here? I'm currently waiting on 2/3 applications in ichnology/vert paleo. I've applied to University of Kansas (accepted 2/6) University of Alberta Ohio University Haven't heard anything about funding for KU yet though which adds to the stress.
  7. I paid money to have my transcripts overnighted to 4 of the 6 schools I was applying to. The other 2 had later due dates so I had them sent regularily. Well 6 weeks later, I get an E-mail saying Nebraska never recieved my transcripts. WTF? So I call my school's records office and they "never recieved" my transcript request but oddly enough received the transcript requests to my other 4 schools on the same day at the same time. So I had to pay an extra $50 to have these two transcripts express mailed and they still got there a few weeks late. AWESOME.
  8. I've had it up to HERE with waiting. I just heard back from 3 schools within 3 days of eachother- so now I'm waiting for the others to come along.
  9. It's irritating to me that anyone would even look at the fashion of others around them and judge them based on that. (grooming habits are not included in this- although I won't condone any judging). It's also silly to think people are going in there trying to look trendy. I'm going to an interview today and wearing dress pants and a dress shirt. I consider it to be a fashionable choice, but first and foremost it is practical, comfortable and professional. I will try to look pretty though. I pride myself on being a pretty geologist.
  10. Most people don't even know what a paleontologist is. if they kinda do I usually get asked "ohhhhhh, like Ross?" Wtf? I never onced watched friends and odds are, no. Not like ross.
  11. Yeah, my interviewer told me that decisions would be made last wednesday. Stilllllllll havent heard back. I'm expecting rejection- I hope the best for you though! March, may you be good to me. I'm leaving the country for 8 days starting wednesday- I'm a nervous wreck that I wont be able to check my mail or e-mail!!!
  12. I almost feel as though I can't wait until March 15th. I'm going nuts. I just need some closure!
  13. Wonderful. I have a fabulously low gpa (2.84), fairly mediocre GRE scores (1110) and no internships or field experience outside of class field trips. Here's to paleontology!
  14. I actually just had nearly the same thing. An email from a professor who was interested in having me work with him and a request for a phone interview. For me, I had made it through the first rounds of admission commitees and he was calling me to talk to see if i fit into his lab and his research interests. There is still one round for my application to go through (On wednesday- stress!) but now I have that professor in there speaking up for me, helping me to get in.
  15. Don't count yourself out now. To be honest, I never spoke to any professors before hand- I did however just get an interview with a professor who saw my application and was interested in me. I worry about that too-that I didn't screw myself by trying to sell myself to a professor before hand but I'm hoping it works out well.
  16. Seriously. How awful would it be to have that big of a mistake made. What happened to him after they realized it was a mistake?
  17. I have a phone interview on thursday and I'm already a nervous wreck. The interview is by a professor who emailed me and told me he was interested in having me work in his lab with him. I've gone and looked up questions to expect when interviewing with a committee but what should I expect from this type of interview with an actual potential advisor/professor? The department I've applied to is Geology if that helps. If anything, calm my nerves. This is the first news I've heard back from any of my schools since the deadline on Feb 1.
  18. I want to get into Ohio University the most. To be honest, I'm at the point where any school that accepts me will be the best EVAR. The only school im not 100% rooting for is Kent, only because they only have invertebrate paleontology, I'm hoping to get accepted into a vertebrate paleo program.
  19. Hm, all my deadlines were Feb 1st. Anyone out there?
